September
Erin Dooley Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

At dusk when the falling leaves glow orange
And the street light shadows creep
Where the air makes your fingers stiff
And they end up curled around the inside of your sleeve

After the sun shown and set
The first star appeared
In between the glowing leaf unfallen off that tree
The night blue sky filled in between

September solitude where the leaves have yet to fly
September breezes trick summer to pass by
I look up through the orangy red
To the blue through the green we leaves fall to my feet
And a rain spot drips onto my face around my smile and onto my sleeve

[chorus]

My summer stood before me today
He was wearing a plaid shirt and he hadn't shaved
When he spoke his breath steamed from his face
And then he left and wished me well with my replacement days

I saw a comet burn by the moon
It seemed to linger longer than you

Overall Meaning

Erin Dooley's song "September" is a hauntingly beautiful ode to the end of summer and the beginning of autumn. The song is filled with imagery of the changing season, with the falling leaves, streetlights casting shadows, and stiffening air all creating a sense of autumnal isolation. The chorus of the song speaks to the bittersweet nature of this transition, as the singer reflects on the arrival of autumn and the departure of summer. The lyrics suggest that the singer has had a recent breakup, as they longingly remember their ex-partner, who appears before them wearing a plaid shirt and leaving with wishes of goodwill for their future.

Throughout the song, Dooley's use of vivid imagery and sensory language transports the listener to a specific moment in time. Through the reference to the falling leaves and the blue sky, the song creates a sense of the beauty and transience of life, as well as the comfort of its enduring cycles. Moreover, the song deals with the complex emotions and feelings that come with the end of a relationship, as the singer tries to come to terms with moving on from a past love.

Overall, "September" is a poignant and thought-provoking song that speaks to the deep emotions we feel during times of change and transition.

Melissa now has an execution date this April. Melissa is guilty.
Assistant DA, Maria De Ford wanted jurors to look at the injuries on this child, bruises, lacerations and a broken arm as well as hair missing in big chunks where it has been pulled from her tiny head. Maria had only been with her mother for 88 days, after having lived in foster care for two years:

"It was no accident. She beat her, she stomped her, she threw her. She pinched her
little vagina. What kind of a mother does this"

On July 22, 2008 it was reported that Melissa was sentenced to death by lethal injection in the 13th Judicial District Court:

"A jury of 12 good and true citizens of Cameron County has decided the fate of a convicted
capital murder. Justice was sought in this case and justice has been delivered"
Chief 1st Assistant - Charles E. Mattingly Jr.

In the United States, 54 women are "on hold" for the execution of their death sentence. Linda Carty and Melissa Lucio are imprisoned in Texas. The first is accused of kidnapping and killing her neighbor to abduct her baby. The second allegedly mistreated her 2-year-old daughter. Detained in Arizona, Shawna Forde, head of an anti-immigration militia, was convicted, along with her accomplices, for murdering a father and his daughter. While some of them hope to have their cases reviewed, we followed them down the green line.

The 2nd killed her daughter by beating her to death, physically abusing her before then as well. I'd hardly call that merely mistreating her.

As someone who grew up with having 4 uncle and 3 aunts my mother being the youngest

It must have been loud and noisy to take care of that many kids

It sucks taking care of that many children. Even taking one child is a handful

@Christian Boy wow, somebody's got way too much time on their hands....not saying you're not right though.

These 2 ladies have been found guilty. They're no longer being accused of anything.

If you actually look at the evidence of that case, she COULD be (not saying she is) innocent. Her son's told the police when she was arrested that their sister fell down 13 steps. They even show you the bricks at the bottom. Concussions can take awhile to kill you. Why didn't they interview her other kids to establish whether or not abuse was happening? Typically, it starts with abuse. She had 13 kids. One of them would've most likely seen or heard something. The mistakes she was referring to, in my opinion, was her addiction.

@Crystal Juanita girl please. Stop holding on to false hope. She made no mistakes. It was intentional. No one made her do drugs. She consumed them WILLINGLY. There's a difference. I guarantee if your child was the victim of one of these monsters, you would not be on this thread talking about "it could've been, would've been or should've been. "
