I don’t listen 🎧 to the radio 📻 much these days. But … I was out today on a glorious south central Ontario afternoon; went on a hike up in the Kawartha Lakes region. Went into a restaurant in downtown Peterborough and this song ☝️ came on … and I stopped, and I listened.

Arrived home a couple of hours later and hurriedly looked up the lyrics and then here on Youtube to watch the video.

I don’t give a sh1t, but I had tears 😢streaming down the side of my face. Yeah, this track moved me.

Then near the end of the video, a place I once used to go down to late at night - Ashbridge’s Bay in Toronto’s eastern lakeside Beach area.

So nice to see a fellow Canadian doing so well and I just read that he opened for Shania. Well DAYAM! 👏💕

Man…I lost my mother on 3/31/23. Woke her up at 9:36am and told her I loved her. Came back at 3:00pm and she was gone. She was truly the only person I’ve ever had. I’ve fought suicide since I was 11. I’ve been hardened by life here at 33. I heard this song and just lost it. Years of trauma, loneliness, being set apart, never fitting in with family or society just spilling forth so uncontrollably. I either feel everything or nothing, but I feel both in their entirety. This song has most definitely blurred the lines. Such depth and gravity. Then I see all these comments and realize for a moment, I’m not alone…that there is an unspoken cement that binds us all together. I recently went through a divorce, tough circumstances then deployed immediately following this. This song came on my Spotify recommended one night while i was working, and i was literally stunned; i stopped working and just sat at my desk and listened. This song went from a depressed cry for someone-her to notice me, to some sort of stoic moving on song to me. I often leave this song on repeat at night before bed, just to feel that way again. And i make it a habit to come to this video to read the comments, to see other people’s stories of the trauma they went through and how this song has helped and affected them in such a powerfully positive way. Honestly, everything about this song feels like disassociation. It reminds me of that feeling of floating on your back in a pool and wondering what would happen if you sank into it. If someone would notice that you were drowning? If someone would notice you weren’t fighting it? If it would hurt when you took a breath of water or if it would be eerily peaceful?
Not necessarily a desire to die, but a feeling of disappearing in yourself and waiting to be found.

I first heard this song when my mom died last year. We had a difficult relationship at times but there was still a lot of love there. Her ending was a really difficult one, one that I am still struggling with. She died without us saying a lot of important things to each other. This song hit me like a damn train. The first time Iistened to the lyrics I fell to pieces. Any time it came on the radio my heart would sink and admittedly, I had to turn it off as I was already crying before the words started. Thank god i was mentally prepared, weeks away for work, and on meditation, otherwise I'd be gone for good. It hurts like nothing Ive experienced, but I need to love myself before I can love anyone the way they deserve to be loved. I stumbled across Talk, and their songs have helped me immensely.
