Everyone Against Everyone
Escape With Romeo Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
All the things were moving slow
A dream, full of self esteem
Now everything is moving fast
It was all too good to last
Fall off, it's not …alone
In this world, under the sun
Everyone against everyone
In this world, under the sun
All we hear is the sound of the gun
Everyone against everyone
With the chills from down my spine
We have come to the end of the line
Transform in the eye of the storm
We will loose our first saved
And we'll try to escape
It's out of space, a slap in your face
x 2
In this world, under the sun
Look what it has become
Everyone against everyone
In this world, under the sun
All we hear is the sound of the gun
Everyone against everyone
Everyone against everyone
Everyone against everyone.
Escape With Romeo's song "Everyone Against Everyone" is a powerful commentary on the current state of society. The opening lyrics, "I had a life so long ago, all the things were moving slow" indicate a nostalgic feeling of the past where things were simpler and time moved more slowly. However, the pace of life has quickened and everything is moving "fast". The lyrics indicate a feeling of despair and the realization that life is not what it used to be, "it was all too good to last, fall off, it's not…alone". It seems as though the singer is struggling to keep up with the pace of the world and has lost a sense of control.
The chorus of the song, "In this world, under the sun, look what it has become, everyone against everyone" speaks to the polarized state of society. The division and animosity that exists in the world is highlighted by the lyrics "all we hear is the sound of the gun, everyone against everyone". The line "with the chills from down my spine, we have come to the end of the line" indicates a sense of dread and foreboding that the world is on the brink of collapse. The only hope seems to be to "transform in the eye of the storm, we will lose our first saved, and we'll try to escape, it's out of space, a slap in your face".
