Escape With Romeo Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Yes you keep me in motion
circling planets will never stop
I’m in the canalisation
and now
I’m coming to the top

there’s a train that goes backwards
and a will to survive
I feel like walking on razorblades
black spots (they) cover my life

REF:
Feel the move
start to groove
as I fade
you should know that I never wait
for somebody...........

I fell in love with my killer
this is hijacked emotion
throwing kisses with a machine gun
in the name of devotion
and you feel good in your prison
how long is that going fine

out in the critical distance...............
I can make the rules of the game

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Escape With Romeo's "Somebody" speak to the theme of being trapped or imprisoned, whether it be physically or emotionally. The opening lines suggest a sense of constant movement and a feeling of being stuck in a never-ending cycle. The reference to circling planets adds to the idea of being trapped in a never-ending loop. The use of the word "canalisation" could be interpreted as being trapped in a small, confined space, thus intensifying the feeling of being trapped. However, the line "I'm coming to the top" suggests a glimmer of hope or a chance of escape from the situation.

The lyrics then transition into describing a person who is willing to do anything to survive, even if it means walking on "razorblades" or enduring hardship. The reference to black spots covering one's life could be interpreted as a metaphor for struggles and challenges that make life difficult. The repeated refrain encourages the listener to feel the move and start to groove, implying that one should keep moving forward even in the face of adversity.

The lyrics then take an unexpected turn, describing falling in love with one's killer or being in a situation of hijacked emotion. The image of throwing kisses with a machine gun in the name of devotion suggests a sense of conflicting emotions and violent passion. The final lines suggest a sense of detachment or distancing from the situation, with the singer being able to make the rules of the game from a critical distance.

Overall, "Somebody" presents a complex web of emotions and situations, encouraging the listener to keep moving forward in the face of adversity, but also acknowledging the difficulty of being trapped in difficult or violent situations.

33 years now and still a masterpiece from 80´s. I’ve been listening to this song here for almost 8 years and every time I listen to it, it feels like the first time ❤. P.S. I saw this band live. They are fantastic!

@argjuan6137
