"Numb", the bands 2001 debut featured epic, spaced out jams, while maintaining an emotional and introspective feel. "Anything Goes", as well as Nuclear Love Song proved to be fan favorites.
The bands orginal lineup, which featured Connecticut natives Ryan Monahan (bass, vocals), Bob Nuzello (guitar), and brothers Scott Aiken (lead guitar) and Brian Aiken (drums) was altered at some point between 2002 and 2003, as Scott Aiken departed for the west coast. From there on, Eschellon would be a 3 piece band.
Eschellon would release a series of EP's, including "Blockade" before releasing their crowning achievement, "History of Fire", in 2004. The band received attention from Geffen Records during this time, however, Ryan Monahan and crew disbanded later in the year due to artistic differences. "History of Fire" featured songs full of emotional impact, cascading drums, and fancy, dreamy guitar work, as well as the regular solid baselines offered by lead singer Monahan. Simple love songs, as well as reactions to complex events, and the edgier, mysterious side of human existence have never been shy'd away from lyricist Monahan, and that is seem most clearly in their final record. In 2005, Monahan met with fellow Central Connecticut State students to form the 3 piece band "Shadowgraphs".
