When it was time for the first release Eskobar was still a band without a name. The names that came up were either bad or taken. After a while they gave up. The problem was later solved when a friend of the band met an American manager and asked for help. He suggested Escobar. The band was informed and they approved. After changing the C into a K instead everyone was satisfied. Eskobar was born.

Take off his fur,
Take off his claws
Take off his soul
'Cause what he had done,
Now they did to him
It seemed like the perfect thing to do
But was it true?
His eyes were oh so blue
Didn't wear shoes
They put him away for all to see
'Cause they were afraid of what he could be
But he was the same as you and me
They put him away for the rest of his being
They made the snowman take out his eyes,
Take off his skin
Take out his heart
Take out his gold
'Cause what he had done,
Now they did to him
It seemed like the perfect thing to do
But was it true?
His eyes were also blue
Didn't wear shoes
They put him away for all to see
'Cause they were afraid of what he could be
But he was the same as you and me
Put us away for the rest of our being
The lyrics of Eskobar's "Snowman" tell a powerful story about how society treats individuals who are different or who have made mistakes. In the song, the snowman is used as a symbol for a person who is perceived as a threat because of their actions or appearance. The first verse describes how the snowman is stripped of his fur, claws, and soul - a metaphor for being dehumanized and reduced to nothing. The reason for this is because of something he had done, but it is unclear what that is exactly.
The second verse continues the story and shows that the snowman is further dismantled- they take out his eyes, skin, heart and gold. It is clear that the snowman is being punished for something, but it is not clear if it is justified. The chorus of the song questions if this brutal treatment of the snowman was necessary. The repetition of, "But was it true?" indicates that there may be a question about the true nature of the snowman's actions or whether society's reaction is justified.
The final verse reveals that the snowman is being punished because people are afraid of what he could be - a reference to how society fears those who are different or who do not fit into societal norms. The snowman is not all that different from the rest of us as he has blue eyes like many people and does not wear shoes. However, his perceived threat leads to his punishment, and the song suggests that society is capable of putting anyone away regardless of whether they have done anything fundamentally wrong.
