how do i get you alone
Esthero Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

There was a boy, a very special boy
Yes, he was a man child, how I love to be good and out
I don't think he see me at all and he can see right through me
Did I manifested just so he could ask me?

How did I find you? How did I ever find you?
How do I get you alone?
If you had a mind, too
We could spend some time to give up
How do I get you alone?

There was a girl, a little, little girl
People say she got and odd smile
You could never figure it out
But if you can see her at all
And now you're putting questions
I think she manifest 'em, just so she could have him

How did I find you? How did I ever find you?
How do I get you alone?
If you had a mind, too
We could spend some time to give up
How do I get you alone?

There was a girl
You could see her lid up
You could really see her lid up
You could see her lid up
You could really see her lid up

You could see her lid up
You could really see her lid up
You could see her lid up
You could really see her lid up

You could see her, see her

You could really see her, see her
You could see her, see her, see her, see her

Overall Meaning

"How Do I Get You Alone" by Esthero is a song that explores the complexities of attraction and longing for someone. The lyrics tell the story of two individuals, a boy and a girl, who are both drawn to each other but struggle to connect. The song reflects on the feelings of invisibility and the desire for someone to truly see and understand them.

The first verse introduces the boy, emphasizing his special qualities and the singer's deep affection for him. However, despite her feelings, she believes that he doesn't notice her and can see right through her, suggesting that he may not feel the same way. The line "Did I manifested just so he could ask me?" implies a sense of hope that the universe has brought them together and that he will eventually take notice of her.

The second verse shifts the focus to the girl, describing her as being different and having an elusive smile that others cannot comprehend. It is suggested that she may intentionally manifest questions or situations to draw the attention of the boy. The repetition of the question "How did I find you?" reflects the longing and uncertainty of how they can connect with each other.

Overall, the song captures the longing and yearning for a connection with someone special. It explores the universal experience of feeling invisible or unnoticed and the desire to be seen and understood by the person one is attracted to.

Esthero does not stop putting out dope tracks. I've been a fan since 1996, and she just keeps evolving and getting better with experience. Honestly, she could sing the ingredients on a cereal box and I'd buy it...

lose the autotune Esthero! Your voice is too beautiful to hide behind that effect.

Seems the auto tune bug from working with the likes of Kanye and Timbaland got to her. I agree to that statement. Great singers don't need it and it is overused all over the radio which I find distasteful and annoying as hell. But here E is capitalizing on the extreme side of autotune where it makes the voice sound more elastic and accordion like. This allows her to play with her favoured Spanish influence in a modern way. Jazmine Sullivan does this too on a track called "Robot".

I'm feeling mad weary because if we hadn't had that falling out over releasing your music from Myspace to everyone through Imeem; I would've been sorely disappointed with buying this album. This is the only great track from this album. Good luck out there though.
