The sound of silence: The Estonian composer Arvo Pärt is considered a cult figure of the avant-garde, a man who redefined modernism with music of hypnotic tension and fascinating spirituality. The performers of the orchestral and choral music on this release are top-quality artists and ensembles from Pärt's native Estonia, above the conductor Tönu Kaljuste, who present uniquely authentic readings.

@eottoe2001

Thank you so much. I'm 63 and have been listening to classical music since I was 14 years old. I always made a point to listen to new composers and people not part of the standard offering, however, I never heard of Alvo Part until recently and what was posted on YouTube. The music is just so profound and this is such a blessing to run into at this point in my life or anyone at any time in their life. Thank you for posting this.

@lhommemaudit6228

@@eottoe2001 The music of Arvo Part is the most deeply soul-soothing and most greatly mood-heightening music on the Earth. His music can even heal the over-worried mind and the soul ,which is overburdened by heavy sorrow. I am deeply beholden to him ,for, without his music I will be endlessly worried in this so unsettling ,mad world in which we live.

@benderocks788

Sounds like a re-issue of the ethereal album "Beatus". Excellent compositions by Arvo Pärt and beautifully rendered by Tonu Kaljuste's conducting. A win-win-win combination!

@alexlindsay2325

I guess I am just old-fashioned (Or just out-of-step with the world) but I wish I could find a CD of this recording. It is the best .

@PetrGladkikh

I do not understand why 1935 here? It is his birth year. Choral works must have been composed long after. Normally year in braces corresponds to the compositions release year. I could not find any other Arvo Pärts to warrant disambiguation.

@Tugend8

I love and adore Arvo Pärt and his compositions, especially his choral works!!! - Love & peace on earth ...!!!

@jean-gabrielbarbagli9936

@jean-philippe-devise

Suis entièrement d'accord.

@lucianopontiroli9016

Mais cette composition a un texte latin, peut etre qu'il veut remarquer sa proximitè à l'Europe occidentale et à sa tradition musicale, dans la quelle Josquin et Guillaume et beaucoup d'autres...
