1995 - Início da Banda
A banda Eterna teve sua origem em 1995 na antiga banda Refúgio, pertencente ao Mosteiro da Esperança, e era inicialmente formada por: Rita Frade, Vera Frade, Alexandre Emanuel Cláudio e Maurício Cailet. Em 1996, lançou uma fita de demonstração chamada "Alguém Fundamental", que tornou o trabalho conhecido, possibilitando assim, a gravação de seu primeiro CD, que foi lançado em março de 1997, após uma mudança de formação para power-trio com Paulo Frade, Alexandre Emanuel Cláudio e Danilo Lopes. O CD chamado "Shema Israel", foi lançado pelo selo católico CODIMUC. Excursionou por diversas cidades do Brasil tendo participado de vários eventos.
Em julho de 1998, participou de um festival católico realizado na Espanha chamado Multifestival David. Em abril de 1999, Douglas Codonho junta-se à banda assumindo o posto de tecladista. Em setembro de 1999 o quarteto lança, de forma independente, seu segundo CD, chamado "Papyrus". Tal disco, leva a banda a receber, nas eleições de melhores de 99, várias indicações para melhor disco, banda revelação, melhor capa, melhor banda nacional, melhor tecladista, etc. Redatores e leitores das principais revistas especializadas elevam a banda a um posto cobiçado por muitos.
Anos 2000 - Reconhecimento no exterior
No exterior, garantiu também vários comentários positivos em revistas e sites especializados, fazendo com que fosse assinado um contrato com a gravadora italiana Scarlet, para distribuição do CD na Europa, com direito à uma capa exclusiva. Ainda no ano de 2000, a banda recebe um convite para participar de um projeto baseado na obra de Willian Shakespeare, "Hamlet", financiado pela Die Hard Records. A banda grava a faixa "Good bye my dear Ophelia", primeira gravação sem o baixista/vocalista Alexandre, marcando a estreia de Leandro Caçoilo nos vocais e Jason Freitas no baixo. Na sequência, a banda mata a curiosidade do público acerca de sua nova formação, lançando em 2001, seu terceiro álbum "The Gate". O disco é aclamado tanto pelos fãs, quanto pela crítica especializada, apontando a Eterna, definitivamente, como uma das mais bem sucedidas bandas nacionais da atualidade. Desta vez, os resultados de melhores do ano de 2001, foram muito mais generosos.
A Eterna recebe, nas revistas "Rock Brigade" e "Roadie Crew" e "Valhala", dos redatores e dos leitores, indicações para todas as categorias: melhor banda nacional, melhor disco, melhor vocalista, melhor guitarrista, melhor baixista, melhor baterista, melhor tecladista, melhor capa, banda revelação e melhor show (ficando atrás, mais uma vez, somente dos medalhões, como Angra, Sepultura e Krisiun). Preparando-se para as gravações de seu quarto disco e para a segunda parte da tour do "The Gate", com shows agendados por várias cidades pelo Brasil, especialmente citando a tour Norte/Nordeste (sendo esta a primeira vez que a banda toca em terras nordestinas), Douglas Codonho, deixa o grupo, sendo substituído pelo tecladista Rafael Agostino. Nos meses de mai/jun/jul de 2002, a banda entra em estúdio para gravar o disco "Terra Nova".
Voltando a trabalhar no Creative Sound, com a produção assinada por Philip Colodetti, que já trabalhou com Angra, Shaman, Paul D'ianno, Luca Turilli, Kamelot, entre outros, além de ter sido responsável pela gravação do "Papyrus" e pela própria fita demo da Eterna lançada em 95, "Alguém Fundamental". Em 2003, A banda sofre nova mudança, sai o baterista e vocalista Danilo Lopes, e entra Paulo Henrique para assumir o posto. Finalmente em 2004, a banda lança seu quinto álbum de estúdio, o CD "Epiphany", consolidando assim a nova formação.
No início de 2006 a banda recebe uma triste notícia, pois o grande amigo e tecladista Rafael Agostino, deixaria o grupo por motivos profissionais, pois ele exercia paralelamente outras funções além da música. Então o já renomado músico, e ex-professor de piano de Rafael Agostino, José Cardillo, se junta ao Eterna para consolidar o que é considerada por muitos, uma das melhores e mais eficientes formações do Eterna em todos os tempos.
2006 - 2007
No mês de Agosto de 2006, a banda anuncia a todos os seus fãs um dos momentos mais aguardados em sua carreira, a gravação do seu primeiro CD e DVD ao vivo. As gravações aconteceriam na cidade de São Paulo, nos dias 02 e 03 de setembro, no Teatro Dias Gomes. Desta vez o projeto seria abraçado pela Gravadora Die Hard, com quem o Eterna já tinha um antiga história de carinho, devido a todo suporte oferecido nas gravações do projeto “Hamlet”. O show seria realizado em 2 dias, mas devido a uma cláusula de contrato com o teatro, acabou-se optando por apenas um único dia de apresentação, para o dia 02. O show foi privilégio de poucos, apenas 450 lugares à disposição, e com a casa lotada, o Eterna consagrou definitivamente sua história em um show perfeito! Ainda em dezembro deste mesmo ano, é lançado o álbum ao vivo: “Eterna Live!”, trazendo as músicas executadas no show do dia 02 de setembro, com grandes clássicos de toda a carreira do Eterna e confirmando as apostas de que esta seria uma das melhores formações que a banda já teve!
Em 2007 a banda prepara o lançamento do DVD ao vivo "Eterna Live!".
