I absolutely love the way the Sopranos used this song. The whole episode centers around Tony making decisions to repair relationships, he continually does what he thnks should be all the right things. Wants to commit to his wife, looks after Irina, makes peace with Junior, makes a gift to Beansie, helps Janice. In the end he's just sitting there alone, feeling like complete shit. Because ultimately subconsciously he knows that all the things that are wrong with his life are rooted much deeper and can't be resolved by doing a couple of favors.
