Over the Rainbow
Eva Cassidy Lyrics

Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high
In the land that I've heard of once, once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true

Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Oh, way above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me

Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Oh, way above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me

Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true

If happy little bluebirds fly above the rainbow, oh
Oh, why can't I?

That's a nice version (They have never disappointed me), but some of my most favorites by far starting with the first one I watched are,
"Man of Constant Sorrow" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ew_bfFvros
"Brothers in Arms"
"Helplessly Hoping"
"Mayday"
"End of the Road"
"Folsom Prison Blues"
"How Great Thou Art"
others...

Their video productions are clever and high quality. You usually forget very quickly that there are no instruments being used unless perhaps they do a special feature of other artists like "Texas Hill" or something.
They've been around about 21 yrs and with the newest member, "Adam Chance" have finally reached the full vocal quality they've been looking for.

She takes a familiar song, changes almost every note and phrase, and leaves you wondering how it ever could have been any other way.

I don’t need to add anything. You captured it perfectly, Dan. Perfection.

@Dan Sanger Your words parallel Eva’s exquisite rendition of this classic song. Beautiful, Dan.

She died nearly 26 years ago and we are still here listening...a true artist.

Sir Pork Rib

Every time I listen I still get something new. 26 years from now it'll still be the case.

Many singers have covered this song, and some have very beautiful renditions, but nobody sang this song more beautifully than Eva. When I listen to her singing, I think of all the beautiful songs we never got to hear her sing. She put meaning and feeling into the words with her powerful voice.

I watch hundreds of vocal performances on YouTube, but I always come back to Eva. I read that she hated this recording: she had a cold and thought she sounded bad. If she could only know now how much of an impact she has had on so many people. How many people have played this version of the song at funerals for loved ones. I'd like to think that somewhere, over the rainbow, she does know and she is happy. 💜💜💜
