Time After Time
Eva Cassidy Lyrics

Lying in my bed I hear the clock tickin', think of you
Turning in circles, confusion is nothing new
Flashback to moon nights, almost left behind
A suitcase of memories, time after sometime

You picture me, I'm walking too far ahead
You're calling to me, I can't hear what you have said
And you say, "go slow, I've fallen behind"
The second hand unwinds
If you're lost you can look and you will find me,
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you, I'll be waiting,
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you, I will be waiting,
Time after time....time after time

After your picture fades and darkness has turned to grey
Watching through windows, I'm wondering if you're ok
And you say, "go slow, I've fallen behind"
The drum beats out of time

If you're lost you can look and you will find me, time after time
If you fall I will catch you, I'll be waiting, time after time
If you fall I will catch you, I will be waiting, time after time
Time after time
Time after time
Time after time
Time after time

Sometimes you picture me
I'm walking too far ahead
You're calling to me, I can't hear
What you've said
Then you say, "go slow"
And I fall behind
The second hand unwinds
If you're lost you can look and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall, I will catch you, I'll be waiting
Time after time
If you're lost, you can look and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall, I will catch you, I will be waiting
Time after time...

This is one of the rarest times when the cover is just better than the original.  Cindy Lauper was great but this song was clearly made for Eva Cassidy...one of the purest vocals I've ever heard.  R.I.P, girl.

@Hedon: It's 6 years on and I hope you've learned it's not better or best but personal favorites.

i agree

James Harris

Newsflash. She had a way of doing that with everything she sung. She took Fields of gold from Sting, her Over the rainbow is the best version, her Autumn leaves is just as magical.

Dr. Thomas Rasberry

Cyndi sang it just as well slow on her dulcimer on Stern. I wish they had a good production of it. Just like Iz with Over the Rainbow, it's impossible to say which is better - and I'm just glad to have both.

All of her covers are better than the originals.
