I Don't Like You
Eva Simons Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Fade to the darkness all the way
At the start gets, I hoped
That for once I had escaped the fakes, the snakes
Waste of time, so face to face
I'll be bold enough to throw
On an itch I belong to say, to say, to say
The fist is old, but this old
It's dead and ended now
I left all the reasons why
Why you should still be here
Go

Where did we go wrong?
I don't even like you now, like you
I'm not like you
You ain't what I want
And time will never work this out
Oh no, I've gone cold
In the heart
Where did we go wrong?
I don't even like you now
Forget you
Oh no, I've gone cold
In the heart
Where did we go wrong?
I don't even like you now
Forget you
I don't like you

All the way
Said not confused we're in the rain
It's a losing hand, fold
Why play on nothing to gain?
All on the rates
The fist is old, but this old
It's dead and ended now
Left are no reasons why
You shouldn't even be here
Go

Oh no, I've gone cold
In the heart
Where did we go wrong?
I don't even like you now
Forget you
Oh no, I've gone cold
In the heart
Where did we go wrong?
I don't even like you now
Forget you
I don't like you

All the way
Done with right
I just don't feel this
I'm not all over, it's there
Through the time, that's where the real is
This love has taken its last breath

Where did we go wrong?
I don't even like you now, like you
I'm not like you
You ain't what I want
And time will never work this out

Oh no, I've gone cold
In the heart
Where did we go wrong?
I don't even like you now
Forget you
Oh no, I've gone cold
In the heart
Where did we go wrong?
I don't even like you now

Forget you
I don't like you

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "I Don't Like You" by Eva Simons are about a difficult relationship that has ended, and the frustration and coldness that the singer feels towards the person she used to be close to. The song starts off with the singer feeling hopeful about escaping from the "fakes" around her but instead ends up in a relationship that failed. She contemplates where things went wrong and admits that she doesn't even like the person she's addressing in the song anymore, and that time will never bring them back together. The lyrics highlight her emotional withdrawal and her honest confession that she's moved on.

As the chorus repeats, the distance between the two people is emphasized by the singer's coldness and emphatic repetition of the phrase "I don't even like you now." The song ends with a sense of finality as the singer declares that the love they once had has "taken its last breath."

Overall, the lyrics of "I Don't Like You" convey a sense of disappointment and detachment in someone's voice as a relationship ends. The song highlights the idea that sometimes even erasing someone from your life completely is the only way to heal and move forward.

It is 2021 and I still don’t understand why this song was not number 1 in United States when was released. its so purely great. Her voice is amazing.

@zubin1993007

Because they did not pay enough money!!

@angelsimagination5430

Eva was signed with Interscope at the time and with the success of This Is Love (a collaboration with will.i.am), it was a no brainer to push her to the mainstream; however, with a lot of record labels, they have priority artists to promote and Eva wasn’t one of them. She also recorded a ton of demos and wrote a bunch of material for her debut album but Interscope did not give the green-light. She was actually slated to release her debut album around September of 2012 but was basically canceled because Interscope had given up on her by then. To this day, I am angry that Interscope didn’t give Eva the promo she deserved but at least she has her own record label and releases whatever she wants whenever she wants. Sadly, no one is paying attention as much as early 2010s.

TLDR: Interscope didn’t believe she was worth promoting.

@@angelsimagination5430 thanks for this great information and make a total sense the lack of promotion of eva’s productions. I think she is more complete artist than Dua Lipa who is having a great success in her career these days. Eva’s voice is fenomenal.

@sammiesmith922

Because America does not appreciate this kinda music. They want ratchet ass shaking negative low vibrational rap music

@zakenmaru8612

@@DanielDiaz-te6dl I'm a big Dua fan but I will say I'm surprised Eva didnt get promoted much. That style, voice, etc, seems like it'd be really popular
