The Lord's Prayer
Evancho Jackie Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Our father which art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy name
Thy kingdom come
Thy will be done
On earth
As it is in heaven

Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our debts
As we forgive our debtors
and lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil
For Thine is the kingdom
And the power
And the glory forever

For Thine is the kingdom
And the power

And the glory forever
Amen

Overall Meaning

The song "The Lord's Prayer" by Jackie Evancho is a rendition of the prayer by the same name found in the Bible in the book of Matthew. The lyrics are a request for guidance and sustenance from God, as well as a recognition of God's ultimate power and glory. The song begins with the phrase "Our father which art in heaven" which establishes a sense of reverence and respect towards the divine. The next few lines, "Hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done" acknowledge God's will as something that should be followed and trust in His divine plan.

In the second verse, the singer requests for their daily needs to be met, while also asking for forgiveness for debts and the ability to forgive others in return. This is followed by a plea to not be led into temptation and for protection from evil. The final lines of the song reinforce the belief in God's kingdom, power and glory, and ends with the word "amen", which means "so be it". Overall, the song can be seen as a humbling and introspective reflection on faith and the relationship between humans and their God.

And there is little time left, before Jesus returns, a leader who will last 7 years has to rise to world power. He is a false messiah that the Jews are waiting for, because they ignored Jesus Christ, but in the end the Jews will accept Jesus Christ.

@TFOURIE

Amen. Jesus Christ is the King of kings.

This voice....is awesome!!! The strength she put there to sing as a child is just unfathomable. Wow!

Agreed 120%. I noticed that "strength" & compassion seems to be missing from her latest performances. Now she seems to be gliding along.. singing very pretty, but without the heart & soul behind it.
