After a solo tour in the fall of 2003, Alexakis decided to continue with Everclear, organizing a new band that made its debut in March of 2004. The new lineup consisted of bass player Sam Hudson, guitarist Dave French, and drummer Eric Bretl. In the summer of 2004, the band added keyboard player Josh Crawley, and swapped Bretl for former Everclear drum tech Brett Snyder. The new lineup released its first recording, a cover of Woody Guthrie's This Land Is Your Land, that summer. A self-released EP of performances recorded for XM Satellite Radio called Closure was given out at shows in the fall of 2004.
Free of a major label, Alexakis spent the ensuing year and half slowly recording material for a new Everclear release. He admitted that the time after the breakup of the original lineup served as a "wake up call", during which he suffered his third divorce and a filing for bankruptcy. Alexakis announced the completion of the album in early 2006,titled Welcome To The Drama Club. The new band is now on Eleven Seven Music.
In August of 2008, drummer Brett Snyder left the band after four years. He was then replaced by Tommy Stewart, who previously played in bands Fuel and Godsmack.

I sing along when I hear it on the radio now)
Hey now where'd we go?
Yeah days when the rains came
Way down in the hollows
Oooh yeah playing a new game
Hey hey
Skipping and a-jumping
In the misty morning fog
Oh baby, yeah my heart's a-thumping you
My brown eyed girl
(Brown eyed girl...brown eyed girl)
You my
Brown eyed girl
Do you remember when? (do you remember when?)
Yeah we used to sing...
Sha la la la la la
La la la la la la
Sha la la la la la
La la la la la la
(I hear a song, it makes me think of a girl I used to know)
Hey... Hey... Hey
(I sing along when I hear it on the radio now)
Now that the years gone by
Yeah now that I'm on my own
I saw you baby, just the other day
But my baby, you have grown
I cast my memory back there Lord
Sometimes, I am overcome just thinking about it
Making love in the green grass
Behind the stadium with you
My brown eyed girl
You my
Brown eyed girl
(My brown eyed girl...my brown eyed girl)
You my
Brown eyed girl
(My brown eyed girl...my brown eyed girl)
You my
Brown eyed girl
Do you remember when?
Yeah we used to sing
Sha la la la la la
La la la la la la
Sha la la la la la
La la la la la la
Sha la la la la la
La la la la la la
Sha la la la la la
La la la la la la
I hear a song
It makes me think of a girl
I used to know
HEY...HEY...HEY
I sing along
When I hear it on the radio now
I sing along
When I hear it on the radio
Now
The song "Brown Eyed Girl" by Everclear is a nostalgic tune in which the singer remembers a past lover. The lyrics are filled with vivid imagery that transports the listener to a time and place where the singer and his lover used to spend time together. The song starts with the singer hearing a song on the radio that reminds him of a girl he used to know, and he sings along as memories flood his mind.
The second verse takes the listener back to a time when the singer and his lover used to play a new game in the hollows while it rained. The chorus is a tribute to the singer's brown-eyed girl, who has a special place in his heart. The bridge invites the listener to remember when they used to sing "sha la la la la la la" together.
The final verse finds the singer older and wiser, looking back on his past with fondness. He remembers making love in the green grass behind the stadium with his brown-eyed girl. The final chorus reiterates that the brown-eyed girl is still special to the singer, even after all these years.
Overall, the song is a beautiful tribute to past love and memories that never fade away. The lyrics are powerful, and the melody is catchy, making it a timeless classic.

unfortunately they were a few years too late to hit the scene. When they started making a splash the autotune generation had started and the bands with "real talent" if they didn't already have a following just didn't get the credit they deserved.

There are only a few, select covers that I prefer over the original. This is, hands-down, one of them.
