After a solo tour in the fall of 2003, Alexakis decided to continue with Everclear, organizing a new band that made its debut in March of 2004. The new lineup consisted of bass player Sam Hudson, guitarist Dave French, and drummer Eric Bretl. In the summer of 2004, the band added keyboard player Josh Crawley, and swapped Bretl for former Everclear drum tech Brett Snyder. The new lineup released its first recording, a cover of Woody Guthrie's This Land Is Your Land, that summer. A self-released EP of performances recorded for XM Satellite Radio called Closure was given out at shows in the fall of 2004.
Free of a major label, Alexakis spent the ensuing year and half slowly recording material for a new Everclear release. He admitted that the time after the breakup of the original lineup served as a "wake up call", during which he suffered his third divorce and a filing for bankruptcy. Alexakis announced the completion of the album in early 2006,titled Welcome To The Drama Club. The new band is now on Eleven Seven Music.
In August of 2008, drummer Brett Snyder left the band after four years. He was then replaced by Tommy Stewart, who previously played in bands Fuel and Godsmack.

I know that you have lied to me so don't even try to play now
You said you didn't do those type of things, but you went and did them anyway
Now there is nothing you can say to me
There is nothing you can do now
The awful truth is that you broke my heart
And now I'm going to break yours, too
You get what you pay for
You gotta own what you sell
I know I will forgive you when I give you
Just a taste of hell
A little flavor of the pain that you gave me
A little taste of hell
All that trouble you have put me through, it will come back to you because...
I know you fucked around on me
I kind of caught you in the act
You made a choice to take us to this place, and now there is no going back
I don't want to be vindictive now
I don't want to make you sad
But you broke the rules of this game that we play
Now it's my turn to be bad
You know they say you get what you pay for
You gotta own what you sell
I think I'm going to like it when I give you
Just a taste of hell
A little flavor of the pain that you gave me
A little taste of hell
All the trouble you have put me through
It will come back to you
With the taste of hell
A little flavor of the pain that you gave me
A little taste of hell
Now all that trouble you have put me through
It will come back to you
There is nothing you can say to me
There is nothing you can do
You had to go and get some on the side
Now I'm going to go and get some, too
You get what you pay for
You gotta own what you sell
I am going to look like Satan when I give you
Just a taste of hell
A little flavor of the pain that you gave me
A little taste of hell
Now all the trouble you have put me through
It will come back to you
With the taste of hell
A little flavor of the pain that you gave me
A little taste of hell
Now all the trouble you have put me through
It will come back to you
In the song Taste of Hell, Everclear is singing about a cheating partner who has lied and betrayed their trust. The singer is angry and hurt by their partner's actions and seeks revenge. The opening lines, "With you it's always lies, lies, lies. I know that you have lied to me so don't even try to play now," set the tone for the rest of the song. The singer knows the truth and is not interested in hearing any explanations or apologies. They want to make their partner feel the same pain that they have felt and get revenge by giving them a little taste of hell.
The chorus, "You get what you pay for. You gotta own what you sell. I know I will forgive you when I give you just a taste of hell," highlights the idea that actions have consequences. The cheating partner will have to face the consequences of their actions and receive the same kind of pain they have inflicted on the singer. The lyric "Now it's my turn to be bad," further emphasizes the idea of revenge.
Overall, the song Taste of Hell is about the revenge fantasy of a betrayed lover seeking to make their cheating partner feel the same pain that they have felt. The lyrics are raw and emotional, and the angry tone of the vocals reflects the intensity of the emotions.

This was a great album. This particular song gives me a "Here We Go Again" vibe (track 2 from SFAAM V1 Learning How To Smile).
