Born Again

Evie Karlsson

You may think it's foolish what I'm going to say,
I'm not ashamed, no not ashamed,
One day I prayed Jesus, take my sin away,
And that's when I was born again
Born again, there's really been a change in me,
Born again, just like Jesus said,
Born again, and all because of calvary,
I'm glad so glad that I've been born again

One man came to Jesus, john and chapter 3,
Oh so afraid, oh so afraid,
Master your from God, I really do believe,
And Jesus said, be born again.

Born again, there's really been a change in me,
Born again, just like Jesus said,
Born again, and all because of calvary,

I'm glad so glad that I've been born again
I'm glad so glad that I've been born again.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Evie Karlsson's song "Born Again" tell a story of a profound spiritual transformation that took place in the singer's life. The opening line of the song sets the tone for the rest of the lyrics, as the singer acknowledges that some people may view her experience as foolish. However, she is unashamed of what happened to her, which suggests that she believes it to be a positive thing. The following lines reveal that the transformation happened as a result of prayer, specifically, when the singer asked Jesus to take her sin away. From that moment on, she experienced a change in her life, which has made her feel glad and grateful.

The lyrics of the song are simple, but they are imbued with a sense of sincerity and conviction that make them compelling. The idea of being "born again" is a common one in Christian circles, and it refers to the belief that when people come to Christ and repent of their sins, they are given a clean slate and a new start in life. This idea of transformation is at the heart of "Born Again," and it is what makes the song so powerful.

TO BE BORN AGAIN IS TO REALIZE GOD HAS ALREADY FORGIVEN ALL YOUR SINS AND TO BEGIN ENJOYING A LIFE OF DOING GOOD!

According to Jesus, God loves everyone unconditionally and forgives us of ALL our sins. Salvation is what happens when any one of us REALIZES (the real meaning of the word "believe" from the original Greek word PISTIS) this truth.
It's NOT that God is waiting on us to do something in order to prompt Him to begin loving us or to forgive us at that moment. No! He ALREADY loves us ALL unconditionally and has ALREADY forgiven us of ALL sins.
The only problem is if a person has not yet REALIZED it! However, once you do realize God loves you and has already forgiven you of all sins, even if you have committed a LOT of sins, it's never too late to begin EXPERIENCING His love and forgiveness.
Of course, it's not just being forgiven of the hurtful things you did to others in the past, but also realizing God will help you stop hurting others going forward! You'll also realize what a sad and miserable life it is to go around hurting others, even if you were so delusional as to think it was benefitting you somehow! On the day you truly believe, you awaken to the reality that leading a life of hurting others, not only hurts others, but you yourself also, within!
So, of course, you don't want to be miserable anymore but, with God's help, you begin leading a life of helping others and doing what you can to help those in need or who are suffering!
This transformation is so dramatic, Jesus compared it to being born again!
By the way, "salvation" is not about what happens to you after death. It's NOT about WHERE your soul goes! Once you begin the new life with God and walking in His goodness, you're fine wherever you go!
It's all about what happens to you in the here and now! Once you are born again, you are ALREADY in the "Kingdom of God," in your heart!

Re: Born again.

We must remember that Jesus Christ was telling Nicodemus "that we must be born again" because at that point Nicodemus was not yet Baptized. Baptism is being born again.

John 3: 5 Jesus answered: Amen, amen I say to thee, unless a man be born again of water (BAPTISM) and the Holy Ghost,(HAVING THE SPIRIT OF GOD) he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

John 3:5 above speaks about, WATER and the HOLY GHOST this happens at the same time at Baptism, which equal BORN AGAIN.

Matthew 18:  19 Going therefore, teach ye all nations; baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

Mathew 18: 19 Above Jesus Christ does not  use the exact wording of "Born again" However, Jesus Christ tell the Apostles above, to BAPTIZE "in the name of the FATHER, and of the SON, and of the HOLY GHOST" THIS EQUAL BORN AGAIN. AMEN

The Gospel never grows old.

@MrPoetnscribe

Ah, those days when the Lord first revealed Himself to me!  Evie helped Him iron out some very rough wrinkles in me.  I'm an old man now.  What hair I have left is white.  I could write a book on all the answered prayer---some so very individually, so specific. And there have been times when I just didn't understand Him, and fussed at Him, but He has been so very good to me and mine.  I can't listen to these good old songs without tearing up now.  I'm writing this with tears coursing my cheeks. We get very emotional in our old age.  Thank you Lord for Evie!!  What a gift she was---and IS!!!

I took my kids and 4 others from our church to seat Evie's show when she came to Atlanta in the late 70's. or early 80's. What a singer and such a wonderful person. She made each of us feel special. So glad God brought her into our life.
