Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Sell you soul, and who you will see
You gotta hit, hit, you gotta hit the machine!

Sell you soul, and who you will see
You gotta hit, hit, you gotta hit the machine!

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Exaile's song Hit the Machine convey a message about our society that is driven by materialism and consumerism. The first line "sell your soul, and who you will see" suggests that people are willing to do anything to make money and become successful, even if it means compromising their values and principles. The second line "you gotta hit, hit, you gotta hit the machine!" can be interpreted as a call to action to follow the mainstream and buy into the consumerist culture. It can also be a reference to the idea that one needs to work hard and put in the effort to succeed in the industry.

The overall tone of the song is cautionary, warning listeners of the negative consequences of prioritizing material possessions over more valuable things in life, such as relationships and personal growth. The repetition of "hit the machine" emphasizes the idea that individuals must conform to society's expectations to achieve success. However, in doing so, they may be sacrificing their own identity and losing sight of what is truly important.

In conclusion, Exaile's Hit the Machine is a song with a message that analyzes the flaws of contemporary society, particularly the influence of materialism on individuals. It encourages listeners to question their priorities and reassess the value they place on material possessions.

I love how old psytrance was a lot more complex and creative. Not just fat kick & bass and some boring fm stacks .

Met them in 2003, when they still went to small private raves. Great album. Back to the day where pc djaying didn't exist yet. And tripping on Acid was number one rule. Nowadays, the trance scene is too commercial. Shame...
