In Your Blood
Excessive Force Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics to Excessive Force's song "In Your Blood" depict a sense of anger and frustration towards someone who is throwing their life away and not taking responsibility for their actions. The singer implies that ignorance runs deep within the person's blood, and though they cry out for help, the singer will ignore them and let the course take its toll on them. As the person falls from their highs and experiences the consequences of their actions, the singer watches without pity. The whole idea behind the lyrics is to forget about the past and the future and instead focus on the present, allowing things to run their course.
The lyrics speak of the frustration of watching someone willingly self-destruct, with the singer seemingly powerless to help them. The line, "I've watched you fall, if you thought I had pity, you were wrong," implies the singer has a close relationship with the person but is unable to help them. The line, "to infect society with your infection," suggests that the singer sees the person's self-destructive behavior as having a harmful effect on society.
Overall, "In Your Blood" is a song about how people can sometimes make choices that lead to their self-destruction, and there's sometimes nothing you can do to help them. It's a warning about the dangers of apathy and the consequences of taking actions without thinking through the potential outcome.
