Exhorder was formed in 1985 in New Orleans, Louisiana. After releasing several demos in the vein of pure thrash metal, they started to adapt more of a groove metal-oriented sound with their debut studio album, Slaughter in the Vatican, released in 1990. This sound was further developed by their second (and to date last) album, The Law, released in 1992. The band dissolved later that year.
Exhorder are often credited with having created the groove-oriented thrash metal sound that was copied and popularized by Pantera. The band is either more or less indifferent to such sentiment as they were friends with Pantera and were saddened by the passing of Dimebag Darrell. However, they do not deny the possibility of them having influenced Pantera's sound even though Kyle Thomas has stated Pantera deserves the praise they receive as he feels Pantera have always worked much harder than Exhorder ever did at being successful.

Exhorder Lyrics

Hordes of demons pleased with what they see
Barbs on the tentacles that keep the uprise down
Strength is the absence of all quit
Remember that they showed no mercy here, and that’s all she wrote
Feed strength
Weed out cowards
Never forget that they’ll leave you for dead, and now that’s all she wrote
Gather up the ones worth arming, take the stations firm
Constitution brings us with no fear
Selective memory shall teach us wrong from right
Faith is our food in desperate times
So many have to die before your right to cast your vote
Feed strength
Weed out cowards
Protect the stone
Never forget that they’ll leave you for dead, and now that’s all she wrote
Sweep to flank the enemy, attacking from all sides
Keep them faceless, nameless as your prey
Closed in and suffocating, meet the uprise now
Prevailing for the ones yet born
They won’t forget you showed no mercy here, and that’s all she wrote
Feed strength
Weed out cowards
Protect the stone
Never forget that they’ll leave you for dead, and now that’s all she wrote
No mercy, that’s all she wrote
The lyrics to Exhorder's song "All She Wrote" portray a dark and intense theme of strength and survival in the face of adversity. The opening lines, "Line up for the execution, signed up suicide, Hordes of demons pleased with what they see," suggests a sense of resignation to a battle or struggle, with external forces seemingly enjoying the suffering. The mention of "strength is the absence of all quit" emphasizes the importance of perseverance and determination in overcoming challenges.
The song then goes on to emphasize the need to gather those who are worth arming, implying the importance of surrounding oneself with reliable and capable individuals. The line "Constitution brings us with no fear, Selective memory shall teach us wrong from right" suggests that having strong principles and a clear understanding of right and wrong is crucial in navigating difficult situations. The mention of faith as sustenance in desperate times indicates the importance of belief and conviction when facing adversity.
The lyrics also convey a sense of the sacrifice that is often required in the pursuit of justice or change. The phrase "so many have to die before your right to cast your vote" speaks to the idea that progress often comes at a price and that the sacrifices of those who came before should be remembered and honored.
Overall, "All She Wrote" is a gritty and powerful song that encourages resilience, strength, and the importance of never forgetting the sacrifices made in the pursuit of a better future.
