Hang On to Your Heart
Exile Lyrics

All the lovers swaying, to and fro
You and me, together, dancing real slow
Tonight's the night, I want you to know
I can't hold out any longer
Remember, love can't grow
Oh, very much stronger
You better hang on to your heart, hold on tight
Or I'm gonna steal it away, tonight
I'll take you in my arms and never ever let you go
There's a new moon out, the stars are shining bright
You're here with me and it feels so right
So hang on to your heart
Or I'm gonna steal it away
You're living proof, that dreams come true
I can't believe, I'm really holding you
So close, so tight, all night through
If I could only make time stand still, forever
It'll always be
Just you and me
Here, together
You better hang on to your heart, hold on tight
Or I'm gonna steal it away, tonight
I'll take you in my arms and never ever let you go
There's a new moon out, the stars are shining bright
You're here with me and it feels so right
So hang on to your heart
Or I'm gonna steal it away
Hang on, hang on
Hang on to your heart
Hang on, hang on
Hang on to your heart
Hang on, hang on
Hang on to your heart
Hang on, hang on
Hang on to your heart
The lyrics to Exile's "Hang Onto Your Heart" depict a romantic, slow dance between two people who are deeply in love. The band plays a low tune, setting the mood for the dancers who sway back and forth. The singer expresses his desire for his partner to hold onto her heart tightly or else he will "steal it away" that night. He marvels at how she is "living proof" that dreams can come true and describes the feeling of holding her close as something he wishes he could make last forever.
The chorus repeats the warning to "hang on to your heart" because the singer is so taken by his lover that he might just sweep her off her feet and take her away. The new moon and bright stars provide a romantic backdrop for the dance, and the singer emphasizes that being together feels so right. The overall tone of the song is one of passion and devotion, emphasizing the timeless theme of wanting to hold onto love and never let it go.
