STAY
Exile Lyrics

Don't you let me go
I'll make it somehow
I got to let you know
That I'll make it
Somehow, some way
Though I wait on the day
What I'm doing's got to pay
My baby, when he cries
It's 'cause something's on his mind
This world is full of lies
You and me are one of a kind
The good lord will stand behind every step
We are blind to fate, that's life, that's life
Stay, stay, stay, stay (won't you please)
Stay, stay, stay, stay
It fits, but you can't make it work
Where there's pain, there's got to be hurt
And the green grass grows from the dirt
Yeah, that's a fact of life alright
The good lord stands behind every step
We are blind to fate, that's life, that's life
Stay, oh won't you please
Stay, stay (won't you)
Stay, stay, stay, stay
Stay, stay, stay, stay
Stay, stay (right here)
Stay, stay (don't you go, no no)
Stay, stay (oh no no)
Stay, stay (stay baby baby please stay)
Stay, stay (right here, right here, right here)
Stay, stay (I want you to stay right here)
Stay, stay (we can stay here, together, together yeah)
Stay, stay (don't listen to what people say)
Stay, stay (stay, stay, listen now yeah)
Stay, stay (stay, yeah yeah now)
The song "Stay" by Exile is a plea to a lover to stay with the singer. The lyrics suggest that the singer is facing difficulties and hardships, but is confident that they will overcome them and make it through with the help of their loved one. The repeated phrase "stay, stay, stay" is a desperate request for the lover to not leave them alone during this trying time.
The first verse sets the tone for the whole song - the singer acknowledges the challenges ahead but promises to make it somehow. They wait for the day when things will pay off and they can enjoy the fruits of their labor. The second verse talks about the baby crying, which could be interpreted as a metaphor for the singer themselves crying out for help. The world is full of lies, but the singer believes that they and their lover are different and that they are meant to be together.
The chorus repeats "stay" over and over again, emphasizing just how important it is for the lover to remain by the singer's side. The next verse talks about pain and hurt, but also notes that from difficult times can come growth and beauty. The repetition of "that's life" suggests that the singer has come to accept the ups and downs that come with existence, but still needs their lover to help them get through it.
Overall, the song is a powerful testament to the strength of love and the importance of having someone to rely on through tough times. Even when life is hard and the future is uncertain, the singer has faith that they and their lover can make it through together.
