Overall Meaning

The song "Wishes" by Exile is about a person who is still in the middle of a dream and is curious about what kind of dream they are having. They mention the person's innocent sleeping face and a desire to hear them speak in their sleep to figure out what their dream is about. The lyrics also mention the feeling of longing that cannot be suppressed with just fingertips and the hope that it will eventually reach the person they love. The chorus repeats the desire to grant the person's dream and become stronger in the process. The song ends with an affirmation to protect the person's smile once they wake up and to continue living in their world.

One interesting fact about the song is that it was released in 2009 in Japan, but gained popularity years later after it was used for a commercial for a popular smartphone game, Love Live! School Idol Festival. The song also received a digitally remastered version in 2018. The music video for the song features the members of Exile performing in a futuristic, neon-lit environment. "Wishes" was also performed by a sub-group of Exile, J Soul Brothers, on their 2011 tour.

Another tidbit about the song is that it was composed by Tsuneyoshi Saito, who is known for creating soundtracks for popular anime like "God Eater" and "Granblue Fantasy." The lyrics were written by Kenn Kato and Yuichi Ohno. "Wishes" has been covered by various artists in Japan, including a version by the idol group AKB48. It was also used as the ending theme song for the Japanese drama, "Majisuka Gakuen."

The chords for "Wishes" are as follows:
Verse - Em, C, G, D (x2)
Chorus - G, D, Am, C (x2)
Bridge - Em, C, G, D (x2)
