Exilia was formed in 1998 in Milan, Italy, when Masha met guitarist Elio Alien.
They have played at concerts with Guano Apes, H-Blockx, Clawfinger, HIM, Therapy?, In Extremo, Rammstein, and Ill NiƱo.
Their debut album, "Rightside UP", was released in 2000. Their following album, "Unleashed", debuted in May 2004, and made it into the Top 40 in German charts. In April 2005, band member Andrea Ge left the band and Ale took his place as drummer.
In summer 2006 they released their newest album "Nobody Excluded".
During their festival tour, Masha had an accident while the band was playing Milan. The stage was not safe and she was falling down and broke her leg twice. Following this incident the band canceled all shows and played them later in 2007.
At the beginning of 2007 they found a new bassist, Mata, because Random could not play the next gigs (Nobody Excluded Tour) with Exilia. Mata and Exilia have known each other since 2001. They played some shows in Italy together.
The last single released in October 2006 was "Your Rain".

Baby Doll
Exilia Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
To dress me up in furs
Don't wanna be a woman
That looks at you and purrs
Ain't no doctor for this sickness?
What I need is more, not less
Going over the edge
Call me honey, got me sugar
Babydoll, get the door slammed right in your face
Babydoll, don't wanna marry I just wanna love you
Babydoll, gotta be me gotta be free, yeh
Babydoll, you're not playing me it's me that's playing you
Don't wanna be a woman
Just to get my bread and butter
Don't wanna be a woman
Little wifie loving mother
Don't wanna be the one to stay
The one you leave at home
When you go out to play
What I want is what I want is
Call me honey, got me sugar
Babydoll, hear me say right in your face
Babydoll, don't wanna marry I just wanna love you
Babydoll, gotta be me gotta be free, yeh
Babydoll, you're not screwing me it's me that's screwing you
What I want is what I want is
Babydoll, get the door slammed right in your face
Babydoll, don't wanna marry I just wanna love you
Babydoll, gotta be me gotta be free, yeh
Babydoll, you're not playing me it's me that's playing you
Babydoll, get the door slammed right in your face
Babydoll, don't wanna marry I just wanna love you
Babydoll, gotta be me gotta be free, yeh
Babydoll, you're not screwing me it's me that's screwing you
Exilia's song, "Baby Doll" is a powerful anthem that challenges gender roles and societal expectations. The lyrics, "Don't wanna be a woman to dress me up in furs, don't wanna be a woman that looks at you and purrs" highlight the pressures society places on women to conform to a certain image and to be submissive. The lyrics reject this idea and instead assert that the singer does not want to be defined by gender or societal expectations.
The chorus of the song is particularly striking as it uses the term "baby doll" as a way to reclaim control and power. The line "Babydoll, gotta be me gotta be free" specifically references the idea that the singer will not conform to societal expectations or be restricted by the limitations of gender roles. The line, "you're not playing me it's me that's playing you" is particularly poignant, suggesting that the singer is in control of the situation and not willing to be manipulated or controlled by anyone.
Overall, "Baby Doll" is a powerful song that speaks to the inner strength of individuals who refuse to be defined by societal norms and gender roles. The lyrics speak to the idea of breaking free and owning one's identity and desires.
