Exilia was formed in 1998 in Milan, Italy, when Masha met guitarist Elio Alien.
They have played at concerts with Guano Apes, H-Blockx, Clawfinger, HIM, Therapy?, In Extremo, Rammstein, and Ill Niño.
Their debut album, "Rightside UP", was released in 2000. Their following album, "Unleashed", debuted in May 2004, and made it into the Top 40 in German charts. In April 2005, band member Andrea Ge left the band and Ale took his place as drummer.
In summer 2006 they released their newest album "Nobody Excluded".
During their festival tour, Masha had an accident while the band was playing Milan. The stage was not safe and she was falling down and broke her leg twice. Following this incident the band canceled all shows and played them later in 2007.
At the beginning of 2007 they found a new bassist, Mata, because Random could not play the next gigs (Nobody Excluded Tour) with Exilia. Mata and Exilia have known each other since 2001. They played some shows in Italy together.
The last single released in October 2006 was "Your Rain".

My Own Army
Exilia Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I need no cover
I come with my own army
I have no heaven
I have no Father
I come with my own army
And after all I stand
Following the path on my own
I need no heaven
I need no saviour
I come with my own army
There is no anger
There is no sorrow
I come with my own army
Mother, I followed the pain
And here I still stand
Following the traces you left
Madre,
I'm shedding my skin
Mother I believe, 17
In a bed of roses
Where you're lying frozen
I'm shedding my skin
Mother I believe, 17
And I need no angel
If you stand with me
You're my army
The lyrics of Exilia's song My Own Army express the singer's sense of independence and self-reliance. In the face of pain and hardship, the singer declares that she needs no external support or guidance. She proclaims that she comes with her own army, meaning that she has the strength and resilience to face any challenge on her own. The singer's lack of belief in heaven, Father or saviour seems to imply that her strength and courage come from within rather than from any external religious or spiritual source.
The lyrics reveal that the singer has endured pain and followed a difficult path but has arrived at a place of personal power and independence. The singer seems to speak to her mother, thanking her for the lessons that have brought her to where she is now. She implies that she has taken the mother's example and built on it, forging her path with the steadfast confidence of youth - as represented by the line: "Mother, I believe, 17".
Overall, Exilia's song My Own Army is a powerful declaration of personal strength and a testament to the human spirit's ability to overcome challenges and adversity.
