I let myself go.

Overall Meaning

Eyehategod's song "Depress" is about the feeling of giving up and losing control. The opening line "I let myself go" sets the tone for the rest of the song, which is filled with bleak and nihilistic imagery. The lyrics describe a deep sense of depression and alienation, with the singer feeling disconnected from the world around them. The imagery of being "lost in a void" and "drowning in a sea of shit" paints a picture of someone who has completely given up on life and is sinking deeper into despair.

One of the main themes of the song is the feeling of being trapped - both in one's thoughts and in one's surroundings. The line "can't escape these prison walls" speaks to the idea of being stuck in a cycle of negative thoughts and emotions. The overall tone of the song is one of hopelessness and resignation, as the singer seems to have given up on the idea of finding meaning or purpose in life.

Overall, "Depress" is a bleak and crushing song that captures the feeling of being completely overwhelmed by depression and hopelessness. It is a powerful expression of the pain and struggles that many people face, and it speaks to the importance of reaching out for help when one is feeling lost and alone.

This is my favorite EHG album. I suppose some don't like the production/sound but I love it. It's super heavy, simple and dark. I actually came here looking for new music but when I search something like "heavy music 2022" or "doom songs 2022" etc I end up with crap. So I come here and look at the music around this. That says alot about EHG.

I'm right with you!
The production simplicity helps the ugliness. I love it.

I describe Eyehategod to people who've never listened as the most fear-filled panic attack you've ever experienced while you're also going through cold turkey smack withdrawal
