The band is known for their dark, sludgy riffs combined with equally dark lyrics. Along with Melvins and Crowbar they are often considered one of the pioneers of the sludge metal genre.
Eyehategod have noted Melvins, Black Sabbath, Black Flag, Saint Vitus, Carnivore, Swans and Flipper as key influences to their sound. These influences combined with heavy, down-tuned, bluesy riffs, walls of feedback and torturous vocals create a truly filthy, misanthropic atmosphere.
While Jimmy Bower was busy playing drums for Down, the remaining 4 members of Eyehategod formed a side-project called Outlaw Order (abbreviated to OO%). The band released a limited edition 7" EP in 2003 called Legalize Crime, which has since been re-released on CD with a bonus live track. 2008 saw the release of Outlaw Order's debut full-length, titled Dragging Down the Enforcer.

EHG's best album in my opinion and this particular song is fucking awesome. I play the bass myself so I dig the bass in this in many EHG songs. This band is criminally underrated! Can't wait to see them in Baltimore on the 22nd of this month and in New York City on May 30th!

Annna ,Robert Pallio and myself drove to lollapalooza 94 fro laredo tx to Baytown tx....Pallio told his boss of his plans and if you go you're fired so he quit ...not before he stole a bottle of jhonnie walker red......we had 27 pre rolled joints on us..mixing drinks....cracking budweisers.....when two vatos came up to us .....they had the early EYEHATEGOD vibe.....asking to sit in the pick up to do business.....well got us 2 free hits of ACID.......peaking during L7
