Bittersweet
F.B.R Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

This is what love can be
It can be so sweet
Or it can hurt like heat
The first time I saw her, I knew I was in love
But thinkin’ back on it, I didn’t know what that shit was
I didn’t know it could lead to loss
I thought it was God’s work, but nah
But that’s the nature of the game
You either float or you sink
And if you float, that is great
But if you don’t, then I pray
You know how to swim in an ocean of skanks
I thank all of the girls that I failed to make mine
This is what love can be
It can be so sweet
Or it can hurt like heat
It’s about trust, about givin’ a fuck
About the other person’s feelings
Is you givin’ enough?
Are you openin’ up to her
Or holdin’ shit back?
If you’ve made mistakes in the past
Just share them and ask
How she feel ‘bout it
If she leaves now, it’s
A sign that that shit would’ve never lasted
But it’s better to know now
Than to go down the road, found
Out she wasn’t down for the whole you
It’s so foul
This is what love can be
It can be so sweet
Or it can hurt like heat
Even if a relationship ends with a heartbreak
It’s worth the journey ‘cause you don’t know what your heart can take
You are stronger than you think
You can get through anything
The love is never lost, it can only get more deep and you wiser
Lift up your visor and see the beauty in love

Don’t be afraid to be weak
It’s not worth givin’ up, it’s worth everything

People need to appreciate what they have, smh.

Last year, I had a parent who was on a vent in the ICU with breakthrough covid.
Did my usual call for update in the AM and PM. I told AM nurse that she had me at that very hospital x years ago and that I only want her to get well. They said "do something for yourself". The PM nurse actually asked what I did that evening. Hubby is EMS and took the day so we could be together. It was very low key, just a couple of presents and some cake..and it meant the world.

I would have given away the cake and all of the presents to have gotten my one birthday wish. Sadly my mother passed away less than a month later.

People need to remember that birthdays are a day to celebrate life and that cake and presents are just part of that celebration. ♥️

Not sure what I will do on the next birthday. 😔

The birthday thing hurts a bit. I tried so hard to make sure all of my friends had surprise parties for their sweet 16s (guys and girls). No one showed up on my 16th except the super poor kid--he showed up in a nice suit after my family took me to the movies just to give me a present, that I still have today (I'm 37 now), and then leave again as he had to go to work since he lived by himself at 16. I have never forgotten how that guy, who hates fancy clothes with the firey burning passion of ten thousand suns, wore a suit just for me to make me feel better.

just a note: they didn't show up because they didn't care, they were just too busy as my birthday is in the middle of the summer. It still hurt tho. The guy's bday is actually 3 days after mine, so I got him a cool shirt from the show he loved (still does) and he also still has it. :')

love this!!!❤

Everyone but one cancelled on the day (and it was the actual day) for my 50th. It was a karaoke night. I brought a 50 yr old whisky and special cake. The host (also a friend) and my pal tried, but I have to admit, after doing very special things for my pals (it was a Sat night) after when I went home I cried.

Happened to me too. No big party just burgers in backyard and no came.

Aw, I’m sorry. :( I’m glad that one person gave you the kindness to show up, even if he couldn’t be around for long, and that you showed the same kindness to him.

@KT Lol, no we did not get married. We could not be compatible in that way in the least. It would make for a cute story though.

I also agree, just spending time and creating memories is the best. I actually don't like it when people buy stuff for me because I'm also pretty poor myself at the moment and otherwise don't know how to reciprocate--but it's something I'm working on remedying (the poorness that is). :')

Oh yes, the best present I have ever gotten was my mum helping me get a kitten. His name is Tesla and he is a fluffy derp and I love him to bits. It is likely that he has literally saved my life with love.

I learned in my 20s to not go all out for your friends with the expectations that they will do the same for you. My friends never reciprocated the effort. I realized it’s not that they don’t love you they just didn’t have the capability or time. If you do something for your friends it’s because it makes you happy not to get something back in return.

@Charlotte Gachoud so I agree but sometimes things happen and ppl forget. My really good friend happened to forget my birthday and ya i was upset for a few weeks but now (and after I told him he forget) we are good again

My birthday comes around once every 4 years. My last birthday was the same day the first official death from covid was announced in America. My next birthday will be 2024. All I want for my birthday is NOT TO HAVE TRUMP GET REELECTED.

Teenybabs

Exactly, I never fail to wish my friends and family well wishes on their birthdays, but don't give mine out so I have no expectations.
