Dakota

It was December in the afternoon
You're something pretty and cool
Signing records as you're passing through
You saw everyone as an angel
But what about the thieves?
Who don't know what do
You saw everyone as an angel
But what about the thief?
Who took away from you
He took away from you
If you just kept walking on your way
If you just kept walking on your way
If you just kept walking on, walking on, walking on your way
Behind the archway lies a thief
Awaiting double fantasy
He's something evil underneath
Outside Dakota died the symphony
I think everyone has a devil waiting in the wings
When you don't know what to do
And you don't know who to be
You saw everyone as an angel
But what about the thief?
Who took away from you
Took away from you
If you just kept walking on your way
If you just kept walking on your way
If you just kept walking on, walking on, walking on your way
Maybe this is just a nightmare
And I will wake up
We all will wake up
Maybe this is just a nightmare
December afternoons they took away from you
The lyrics of "Dakota" by F.B.R. tell a story of a dream the artist had about someone they knew. The dream takes place in December, a time often associated with nostalgia, longing, and reflection. The person in the dream is described as "pretty and cool" and signing records as they pass through.
However, the dream takes a darker turn as the artist reflects on the idea that everyone has a devil waiting in the wings. They ask, "what about the thieves?" and note that these individuals not only don't know what to do, but they also don't know who to be. The person in the dream is portrayed as seeing everyone as an angel, except for the thief who took something away from them.
The second half of the song describes the reality of the situation outside the dream. Behind the archway, there is a thief who is "something evil underneath." The symphony outside Dakota has died, representing the loss and grief associated with theft and betrayal. The lyrics conclude with the hope that the situation is just a nightmare and the longing for things to go back to the way they were.
Overall, "Dakota" is a hauntingly beautiful song that explores themes of loss, betrayal, and the dark side of human nature.

Yepp. Almost happened to me, but then I started joining daily 7AM jam sessions before school - within about 2 weeks I had completely turned around my guitar playing. Highly recommend it to anyone who can find someone to jam with, you'll be picking up chords on sight and figuring out what to play with them in no time at all.
