I Wish I Could
F.S.K. Lyrics

Taking about all this tragedy
You've got everything
When you're close to me
You're all around
You're surrounding me
Intoxicated by the air you breathe
With me
Oh oh
Like broken pieces of a shattered dream
Or like a movie with a missing scene
You'd like you believe
I'm nothing special
But if I could take you home
If I could take you home
If I could take you home
I'll be all that you need
The trail of broken hearts you left behind
Should send me running girl
But I don't mind
It's not up to me
Where you sleep
oh oh
But you're so good at making casualties
Inflicting pain rather casually
It's easy to see
You'd do it to me
Oh oh
Like broken pieces of a shattered dream
Or like a movie with a missing scene
You'd like to believe
I'm nothing special
But if I could take you home
If I could take you home
If I could take you home
I'll be all that you need
If I could take you home (Oh whoa oh)
If I could take you home (Oh whoa oh)
If I could take you home (Oh whoa oh)
Oh whoa oh
You think I'm nothing special
But if I could take you home (Oh whoa oh)
Oh whoa oh
Oh whoa oh
Oh whoa oh
Oh whoa oh
If I could take you home
If I could take it slow(Oh whoa oh)
If I could let you know
If I could make you see
That I'll be all that you need (Oh whoa oh)
Oh whoa oh
You think I'm nothing special
But If I could take you home
If I could take you home
If I could take you home
I'll be all that you need
If I could take you home (Oh whoa oh)
If I could take it slow (Oh whoa oh)
If I could let you know (Oh whoa oh)
Oh whoa oh
You think I'm nothing special
But If I could take you home (Oh whoa oh)
Oh whoa oh
I'll be all that you need (Oh whoa oh)
In F.S.K.'s "I Wish I Could," the lyrics express the desire to be with someone who is toxic and has a history of leaving a trail of broken hearts. The song highlights the singer's willingness to overlook these flaws and believe that they could be the one to make a difference. The opening lines describe the singer's attraction to this person despite their depressing demeanor as they speak of tragedy. The lines "You've got everything, When you're close to me" suggest that being near this person is enough to make the singer happy.
The chorus emphasizes the singer's willingness to be there for this person despite their history of inflicting pain on others. They describe the person as making casualties and inflicting pain casually, yet they would like to be the exception to the rule. The lines "You'd like to believe, I'm nothing special" show the singer's low self-esteem and how they think they are just another one of the many people chasing this person. The repeated line "If I could take you home, I'll be all that you need" suggests that the singer wants to take care of the person they desire and be everything they need. Overall, the song highlights the dangerous and addictive nature of infatuation and the willingness to overlook one's flaws in a romantic relationship.

I've hummed the chorus to this song for years. Ever since I heard it just the once that night John Peel played in 86. Ahh, the memories of being a teenager listening to Peel at nights. Brilliant, great song.

Als Engländer, der Deutsch lernt, ist dieses Lied ein Anthem geworden! Dass es von John Peels Rundfunkprogramm aufgenommen wurde, ist für mich sogar noch besonders!

Another band I have to thank John Peel for - I'd never have heard them otherwise!

I'm amazed that there's so little FSK on YouTube, they're a great band. "Goes Underground" is an essential 80's indie album with some of my favourite FSK tunes on, such as "Dancing In The Dawn" (which isn't even on YT !).

I used to have this on a C90 tape off the radio, long since lost. Fondly remembered song and so good to hear this again-cheers!

Bought the vinyl on a whim decades ago. Love this and "Gotta get over that wall."

I have this somewhere on cassette tape and I've been looking out for it for years, I still sing it around the house now and today at last I've found it. Just need to find 'The Funny Gi' and 'Bad memory' more John Peel obscure tracks.
