Another Year
FINNEAS Lyrics

You'd never know it was a holiday
I don't believe that Jesus Christ was born to save me
That's an awful lot of pressure for a baby
But here we are again, with family or friends
Some extra time to spend and I'm not mad about it
Don't waste a dime on me, just want your company
Hurry home, please, I don't belong without you
Your ice-cold feet, write all my songs about you
I love you more and more each day
Can't find poetic ways to say
"I hope it lasts another year"
Don't have a clue where I'll be
Except for next to you on New Year's Eve
I don't believe a resolution's gonna change me
That's an awful lot of bullshit, ain't it, baby?
But here we are tonight, drunk by the firelight
The future could be bright, though no one's sure about it
And if the ending's sad, at least these time's we've had
The good outweighs the bad, you wouldn't know without it
Hurry home, please, I don't belong without you
Your ice-cold, feet write all my songs about you
I love you more and more each day
Can't find poetic ways to say
"I hope it lasts another year"
The lyrics of FINNEAS's song "Another Year" seek to explore the complexities of celebrating holidays while grappling with personal beliefs and doubts about its underlying meanings. In the first verse, the song writer dismisses the notion of snow or holiday festivities being a necessary component of the season, highlighting how LA's climate is not conducive to typical winter celebrations. Furthermore, the writer is skeptical about religion and its promises of salvation, emphasizing how placing expectations on a baby is unfair. Nonetheless, the writer still seeks time with loved ones, stating how he values their companionship more than receiving presents.
The second verse continues to express feelings of skepticism towards tradition, as the writer doubts the efficacy of New Year resolutions in effecting meaningful change. However, the writer still chooses to focus on the joys of the present, cherishing the moments spent with friends while looking ahead to a brighter future. The chorus reinforces the writer's unwavering love for his partner, showcasing the power of genuine affection and the inexpressible feelings that come with it.
Overall, the lyrics of "Another Year" offer a refreshingly honest take on the holiday season, highlighting the importance of shared connections and the beauty of the present moment.

I feel like everyone is saying Finneas need more hype, i dont really think so. His music will last forever while other artists fade away.
The quality and passion behind every word is extraordinary and so magical.
Finneas is a long-term artist in a fast paced world.

Finneas- idk if you'll see this or not, but my partner of 13 years loved yours and Billie's songs. Him and I would listen to them on repeat. Sadly he committed suicide in September. He was a nurse & an activist who fought for everyone. This past year was extremely hard for him and our family. Finally stopped being homeless, but even though we had nothing and the kids sleep on air mattresses, we pushed on. Your music helped us through so many tough times- but now it's so hard for me to listen to your music without bawling my eyes out. I'm really hoping this pain from loss gets better and that someday I can listen to your music again without crying. I lost my job, trying not to lose my Apt, and hoping for a miracle so my kids can have a Christmas especially since they've lost so much this year. I'm thankful for your music bc it has brought so much joy to my family. I hope anyone who reads this will have a good holiday. Please hug those closest to you and tell them that you love them. If you have no one, then please know even if I don't know you, I love you.
