Can't Wait to Be Dead
FINNEAS Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Somebody's drivin' you home
But they don't know who you are
You're in the back of the car
Somebody's tryin' to help
And makin' everything worse
Somebody please call the nurse
Somebody's ripping you off
Tryin' to sell you good news
You know we're still gonna lose
But I need to be where you are
For no reason at all
Or else I'll suffer withdrawal

Nobody's comin' to save me
Nobody knows any better, anyway
I think we're thinkin' the same thing
If this is how it ends, I wasn't listenin'

Somebody's screamin' again
Another sunburn with hair
It's too much fun not to stare
Somebody's callin' you out
For somethin' you never said
Kinda can't wait to be dead
Somebody's wasting my time
Fuck your Confederate flag
You've got no reason to brag

Nobody's comin' to save me
Nobody knows any better, anyway
I think we're thinkin' the same thing
If this is how it ends, I wasn't listenin'

To you
To you
I wasn't listenin' yet
Not even gone, but you'll be missin' me yet
I wasn't listenin' yet

I wasn't listenin'
I wasn't listenin' yet

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of FINNEAS's song, "Can't Wait to Be Dead," revolve around the feeling of hopelessness, helplessness, and despair. The song is about a person who is in a state of mind where they believe that no one can help them or understand their predicament, and they have lost all hope. The opening lines of the song, "Somebody's drivin' you home, but they don't know who you are" paints a picture of disconnection and a lack of understanding. The singer feels as though they are being led somewhere, but they do not know where they are going, and the driver is oblivious to their situation.

As the song continues, the singer talks about somebody who is trying to help them but only makes matters worse. The person is ripping them off and trying to sell them good news even though they know they will ultimately lose. This is a metaphor for society and how people are often conned into believing things that are not true, and they will not have a positive outcome. The singer is desperate to be where this person is, even if it serves no purpose because they cannot bear to be without them.

it makes me so sad that most of the people talk about finneas just as "Billie's brother". If it wasn't for Finneas, Billie wouldn't be where she is today. Finneas is ART by himself and seems a very intelligent and kind person. He really cares and talks about serious worldwide problems and how harsh today's society is. Let's give him the appreciation he needs please.

When you said Billie, I thought Billie Lourd, so I started googling. And now I realize you were talking about the singer. Either way, I think they are both talented!

Bill

Neither one is where they are without the other. And Billie is lucky to have him as a brother!

Homoforbil

Exactly, Finneas is Finneas not just Billies brother.
