Honda
FKA twigs Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

So, yeah, one morning
I dunno, Monday or somethin', Monday or somethin'
Summertime, you know, all tired and shit
Sleep under my eyes, lookin' at myself on the mirror
Who's that? Who's that? Ayo, listen
Anyways, I'm one of a kind, what, people like me, one of a kind
When life gives us lemons, we just take in the essence
Hear me, don't look back, don't look back
Keep drivin', know what I'm sayin'?
Leave the sourness behind (keep drivin')
Leave it to the streets, that's it
O-t-s-s, only the strongest survive, Honda, baby

Baby, we can roll it on the M -way
Smokin', Honda, roll it
Baby, we can (we can), smoke it (ooh)
On the (on the), M-way (yeah)
Honda (Honda), Rizla, baby

One of a, one of a, one of a kind
From sunlight 'til moonshine, you'll always be mine
They don't understand like we do

Look, conquer
You never have to worry 'cause they under you
I wonder why you so delicia?
Baby, you can roll his, a Rizla
Honda smoke, but we glide on the M-way
Feel it when you move your body, control your body
The bag, the bag, baby, got an eye for money
Baby love a girl who gully, who move her back to back

Steppaz twinnin', baby, Louis V matchin'
Hold it down, baby, we could travel 'round the globey
Come and fly with me
Let me jig a kid, I said, "We could get it jiggy"
There ain't no one like you, there ain't no one like me
Would you still be a freak even when we turn fifty?
Still roll my zoots even when I turn sixty
Would you hold it down if a judge gave me twenty?
Slap me twenty

One of a, one of a, one of a kind
(True say I'm one of a kind, baby) hey
From sunlight to moonshine, you'll always be mine
They don't understand like we do (yeah)

Wonder boy, wonder boy, interplay in my vicinity
We are the synergy (yeah)
I-i see the way that you walk in the center, the center
This King Salieu makin' way (ah)
Eyes in the back, never be slack
Energy sweet, feelin' me
Way-way you movin', it amaze me
Darlin', you the baddest, how can I deny it? (Yeah)

Baby (baby, baby), we can, we can roll it (ooh)
On the (on the), M-way (yeah)
Smokin', (Honda) Honda, roll it
Baby (baby, baby), we can (we can), smoke it (ooh)
On the (on the), M-way (yeah)
Honda (Honda), Rizla (ooh), baby

Baby, we can roll it on the M-way
Smokin' (yeah), Honda, roll it
Baby (baby, baby), we can (we can), smoke it (ooh)
On the (on the), M-way (yeah)
Honda (Honda), Rizla (ooh), baby

Baby, we can smoke it on the M-way
Honda, Rizla, baby
Baby (baby, baby), we can (we can), smoke it (ooh)

On the (on the), M-way (yeah)
Honda (Honda), Rizla (ooh), baby (Honda)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Honda" by FKA twigs feat. Pa Salieu appear to be a stream-of-consciousness reflection on the singer's unique identity and the importance of keeping a positive attitude and leaving negativity behind. The opening lines suggest a bleary-eyed reflection in the mirror, with the singer questioning their own identity: "Who's that? Who's that?" However, they quickly assert their individuality, describing themselves as "one of a kind" and emphasizing the importance of perseverance and strength: "Leave the sourness behind (keep drivin') / Leave it to the streets, that's it / O-t-s-s, only the strongest survive, Honda, baby". The repeated mentions of "Honda" throughout the song may refer to the car brand, symbolizing both the singer's endurance and reliability.

The rest of the song describes a hedonistic joyride with a lover, celebrating their unique connection and their shared love of smoking and driving: "Baby, we can roll it on the M-way / Smokin', Honda, roll it / Baby, we can (we can), smoke it (ooh) / On the (on the), M-way (yeah) / Honda (Honda), Rizla, baby". The lyrics are full of playful references to drugs and intimacy, with lines like "Baby love a girl who gully, who move her back to back" and "Still roll my zoots even when I turn sixty". Ultimately, the song seems to be about embracing and celebrating one's individuality and experiences.

This beat is sick. Eerie, energetic, with a whole lot of swagger... very FKA Twigs-esque.

@clem.3894

just the beginning of the song had me hooked, Pa Salieu talking meshed with that gorgeous instrumental. then the beat came in and WOW. this song is everything; the instrumental compliments both the singing and talking so well, and i love the harmonies between twigs and Pa Salieu. twigs rapping and sing-talking returns in this track and i'm ABSOLUTELY here for it; the part where go back and forth was such a bop. the last portion of the song had some MARVELOUS production holyyy i am in love. twigs continues to bless my ears with her music.
