Water Me
FKA twigs Lyrics

Not now, I've set the fee
He said it's too much in pounds
I guess I'm stuck with me
He told me I was so small
I told him, "Water me"
I promise I can grow tall
He won't make love to me now
Not now, I've set the fee
He said it's too much in pounds
I guess I'm stuck with me
He told me I was so small
I told him, water me
The lyrics to FKA twigs's song "Water Me" express the artist's frustration with a lover who refuses to be intimate with her unless she pays him. The opening lines reveal that the singer has set a fee for sex that her lover finds too high, leaving her feeling rejected and alone. Despite this rejection, she promises to grow and become stronger, using the metaphor of water to represent growth and nourishment.
The second verse features the repetition of the previous lines, indicating the deep impact of this rejection on the singer. The chorus sees her begging her lover to water her, allowing her to grow and become the person she is meant to be. Although she feels stuck with herself, she knows that the intimacy of a physical relationship would bring her closer to her desired self.
In this interpretation, water represents not only growth but also a life-giving force that is essential for survival. The singer is struggling to thrive in a world where her worth is measured in pounds, and she is forced to pay for the love and affection she deserves. This song is a powerful commentary on the objectification of women and the damaging effects of commodifying love and intimacy.

Lyrics, interpret it as you may. I believe it's a tragic tale about a prostitute who wants to be loved.

se por meu preço for
disse ser alto o valor
meu fardo, eu penso, eu sou
Sou tão pequena, falou
e eu: me águe, por favor
prometo, alço alto esplendor

So many people disliked her videos a few years ago because they were "weird." I remember people bullying her for a long time, but I always knew how beautiful and talented she was/is. I'm glad she is getting more recognition now for how creative she truly is

She has God-like features. Beauty begets jealousy. This honestly looks like a custom built animatronic head with effects layered on bc it cannot be her!

Last night while listening to this song, I had a realization. He never even watered her, based on the video. When you see the tear fall from her eye and hit her in the head, her eyes grow larger. Her own pain and sadness of rejection was what made her grow. She watered herself from her own tears.

"He told me I was so small, I told him water me", "I guess I'm stuck with me". She literally grew from her own water.
