After Hours
FM Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Oh... ooh...
(After hours, after hours)
Look me in the eye
Let's try to rectify this situation
Say it to my face
There's nothing out of place
Only words that are whispered on the wind, oh
Vicious rumors, tell me where do I begin
I can hear the people say
After hours
While I was away, you were giving your love
(You were giving your love)
You were giving your love
After hours
While I was away, you were giving your love
(Giving your love)
Giving your love
Oh...
(After hours)
If it's true what I've been told
How come I'm the last to know
What's going on here
Oh, there's a change in your eyes
Every time we say goodbye
What's going wrong here
Like a fool, I put my trust in you
Tell me now, 'cos I have to know the truth
I can hear the people say
After hours
While I was away, you were giving your love
(You were giving your love)
You were giving your love
After hours
While I was away, you were giving your love
(Giving your love)
Giving your love
Well, I know deep inside
What you're going to say
When you open your heart
There's a price to be paid
It's nothing new, win or lose
Love's a dangerous game
Oh...
Oh-oh-oh...
(After hours, after hours)
If it's true what I've been told
How come I'm the last to know
What's going on here
(After hours, after hours)
Oh, there's a change in your eyes
Every time we say goodbye
I can hear the people say
After hours
While I was away, you were giving your love
(You were giving your love)
You were giving your love
After hours
While I was away, you were giving your love

Giving your love
After hours

(You were giving your love)
You were giving your love
After hours
While I was away, you were giving your love
(Giving your love)
You were giving your love

The song "After Hours" by FM is about a person who suspects their lover of being unfaithful. The lyrics suggest that the lover gave their love to someone else while the singer was away. The singer pleads with their lover to tell them the truth and stop playing games with their heart. The chorus features the repeated line "after hours" which implies that the lover's infidelity might have occurred during times when the singer was not around.
The lyrics evoke a sense of betrayal and loss, as the singer feels like a fool for having trusted their lover. They also express a sense of desperation, as the singer wants to know the truth about what happened while they were away. The reference to "vicious rumors" and "whispered words on the wind" suggest that the singer has heard some disturbing things about their lover's behavior. Overall, the song is a classic example of a breakup ballad, with its heartfelt lyrics and melancholic melody.
