Turn Me Loose
Fabian Lyrics

Turn me loose, turn me loose I say
This is the first time I have felt this way
Gonna get a thousand kicks or kiss a thousand chicks
So turn me loose

Turn me loose, turn me loose I say
Gonna rock'n'roll long as the band's gonna play
Gonna holler, gonna shout, gonna knock myself right out
So turn me loose (turn me loose, ooh-ahh)
I've got some change in my pocket and I'm rarin' to go
Takin' some chick-a to the picture show
And when I see her home and we kiss goodnight
Well, turn me loose, turn me loose, turn me loose, turn meloose

Turn me loose, turn me loose I say
Yes, today is gonna, is gonna be the day
I want you all to understand, now I am a man
So turn me loose (turn me loose, ooh-ahh)

I've got some change in my pocket and I'm rarin' to go
Takin' some chick-a to the picture show
And when I see her home and we kiss goodnight
Well, turn me loose, turn me loose, turn me loose, turn meloose

Turn me loose, turn me loose I say
Yes, today is gonna, is gonna be the day
I want you all to understand, now I am a man
So turn me loose (turn me loose, ooh-ahh)

I remember my older sister's friends saying Fabian was their favorite because he was gorgeous and not stuck up. Later I read he was modest, level headed, and didn't care about singing other than it was a way to make money to support his parents. He didn't have a great voice but he didn't need one. Singing was just a vehicle to get Fabian on stage so teen girls could ogle him.

but he... what?

One of the all time great "attitude" records. Fabian Forte and this single got high praise from one time MC5 manager John Sinclair in one of his books. I couldn't agree more.

On this day in 1959 {March 12th} Fabian performed "Turn Me Loose" on the Dick Clark ABC-TV weekday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'...
Just under three weeks later on March 30th the song entered Billboard's Top 100 chart at position #79, eight weeks later it would peak at #9 {for 2 weeks} and it spent thirteen weeks on the Top 100...
Between January 1959 and October 1960 he had ten records on the Top 100 chart, three made the Top 10...
Besides the above "Turn Me Loose", his other two Top 10 records were "Tiger"* {#3 in 1959}, and "Hound Dog Man" {#9, also 1959}...
Fabian, born Fabiano Anthony Forte, will celebrated his 75th birthday last month on February 6th {2018}...
* And from the 'For What It's Worth' department, the two weeks that "Tiger" was at #3, the #1 record was "Lonely Boy" by Paul Anka and at #2 was "The Battle of New Orleans" by Johnny Horton for both those weeks...
In addition, the following month on April 18th he performed "Turn Me Loose" on the NBC-TV program 'The Perry Como Show", then one month later on May 24th he performed it again on the CBS-TV program, 'The Ed Sullivan Show'...

Nice guy who had no illusions about how he got there

Jamie Lynn

He was so cute!!! My dad had this whole show or whatever taped and I watched it over and over....... Just this part though. Brought back memories 😁

Amazing, 16 y/o, so much confidence and great stage presence and at such a young age. He reminds me of the young Ricky Nelson, although Ricky did have a better voice.

Jenny Rose

Both cuties, and Elvis

William Edgar

@josh gorsky Agreed. And he was very open about knowing nothing about music, singing, and performing. Pretty obvious here.

josh gorsky

zero confidence or stage presence, this was so awkward
