this time's for wasting?
A broken link between things
you're doing,
things that you're saying
The line is straight I know
what I am chasing
I've never been a one for
And the time is right now
Superficial, beside the point
a loss of time,
wasted opportunity
When you're through
will this satisfy you?
What I want
Is something more absolute
No reason to try at all?
It's some kind of joke cos I'm
Hearing you talk the talk
Believe more when I see the walk
What I want
is something more absolute
And you talk about your action
Do you really mean a word
that you say?
This is more about direction
No it's not about the easy way
Taking the easy way
Taking the easy way
What makes you think
that all this
time's for wasting?
A broken link between
things you're doing,
things that you're saying
The line is straight
I know what I am chasing
I know exactly what I want
What makes you think
that all this
time's for wasting?
I know exactly what I want
exactly what I want
exactly what I want
exactly what I want
The time is now,
the time is now for us to go
In "Drag," Fact challenges listeners to re-evaluate their priorities and question whether they're truly making the most of their time. The lyrics suggest that time is valuable and that we should strive for something more meaningful and absolute than superficial pursuits. The song opens with the repeated refrain, "What makes you think that all this time's for wasting?" which sets the tone for the rest of the track.
The first verse seems to call out someone who is not living up to their potential or who is wasting their time on trivial pursuits. The singer points out the disconnect between what this person is saying and what they are actually doing. The second verse is a direct challenge to this person, asking if they think that what they're doing will satisfy them in the long run. The singer then demands something that is "more absolute," indicating a need for clarity and purpose.
The chorus of the song echoes the refrain and reinforces the idea that time is running out and we should be focused on chasing our dreams and living our best lives. The repeated "exactly what I want" phrase feels determined and resolute, emphasizing the singer's decisive nature and determination.
Overall, "Drag" is a call to action, urging listeners to take a step back and evaluate the way they're spending their time. It suggests that we should be striving for something more meaningful and that we should be willing to put in the work to achieve our goals.
