Let It Drip
Failure Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Cause you will not see
Let it drip down
Let it soak your feet
Yesterday I watched
her breakdown
Split in two she's
Subtle ways I could
have hurt her
Rack my brain when
I am sleeping
The lyrics of Failure's song Let It Drip convey the feeling of being overwhelmed by the inevitability of death. The opening line "Breath your death down" suggests that the singer is fully aware of their mortality and that it is something that is constantly on their mind. The next line, "Cause you will not see," could be interpreted as a condemnation of those who refuse to acknowledge their own mortality or the inevitability of death.
The chorus, "Let it drip down, let it soak your feet," seems to suggest an acceptance of death, perhaps even a desire for it. The phrase "let it drip down" could be interpreted as a metaphor for the slow and inevitable movement toward death. The line "let it soak your feet" has a more visceral quality, suggesting that the singer is willing to let death consume them completely.
In the second verse, the song takes a more personal, introspective turn. The singer describes watching someone they care about "break down" and "split in two." This could be a metaphor for a number of things, such as a breakup or a mental breakdown. The singer then acknowledges that they themselves may have played a role in this breakdown, and they are haunted by this realization even in their sleep.
Overall, the lyrics of Let It Drip suggest a complex relationship with death and an acceptance of its inevitability. The personal elements of the song suggest that it may be about a specific experience or relationship, but the lyrics are open enough to allow for multiple interpretations.
