Faces carved in ignorance and pride
Looking for another way
Trouble's down the street
The sky's on fire - I'm moving on
I got to face the heat
I fight - no mercy in these eyes
And if my love is strong enough,
I got to break this pride -
I fight - I fight...
Castles built on anger and desire
Waymarks in a no man's land on fire
Looking for a different life
Longing for the day
And all I know's - I must get out
I got to find my way
I fight - when silence breaks at night
I fight - no mercy in these eyes
And if my love is strong enough,
I got to break this pride -
I fight - I fight...
Fair Warning's song "I Fight" is a powerful anthem about standing up for oneself in the face of adversity. The lyrics paint a picture of a world filled with chaos and struggle, with riots and ignorance running rampant through the streets. The singer is portrayed as a determined, unyielding force who refuses to succumb to the pressure of his surroundings. The chorus, with its repetition of the words "I fight," serves as a call to arms for anyone who has ever faced a challenge and refused to back down.
The first verse describes the singer's surroundings in vivid detail. He references "riots on the misty roads of night," as well as "faces carved in ignorance and pride." This creates a sense of danger and tension, with the possibility of violence looming in the background. The second verse is more introspective, describing the singer's personal journey as he seeks to escape this world of chaos and turmoil. He speaks about "castles built on anger and desire" and "waymarks in a no man's land on fire," which suggest a struggle to find his place in the world.
Overall, "I Fight" is a song about perseverance and determination in the face of adversity. It serves as an anthem for anyone who has ever felt overwhelmed or powerless, and encourages listeners to stand up and fight for what they believe in.
