The lyrics of Fairuz's song "Dak Elhawa" describes the feeling of longing and waiting for a loved one to return. The song begins with the sound of knocking at the door and the singer talks to her loved ones, who are also eagerly waiting for the return of someone they miss. They express how sweet and dear this person is to them, and how they are hurt by their absence. As they open the door, they are struck by the overwhelming desire to see this person again.
The song portrays the emotions of love, waiting, and the pain of separation. The lyrics also indirectly express the feeling of disappointment, as the breeze (hawa) that was knocking at the door, signifies the hopes and expectations of seeing the missing person, yet, it was just the sound of wind, taunting them. The line "لا في حكي و لا قمار تنزل و تاخدنا" is noteworthy, as it reflects the idea that love doesn't require fancy talks or expensive gifts, but it is a force that can take over one's heart and soul, and carry them away.
