The lyrics in Fairuz's song Kamat Mariyam describe the Biblical account of Mary, the mother of Jesus, standing next to the cross upon which her son is being crucified. The song describes Mary's emotional turmoil as she laments the sight of her son being crucified at the hands of the soldiers. She is consumed by grief and pain as she watches her son suffer, and the lyrics suggest that she was unable to comprehend her son's pain and suffering.
Despite her sorrow, Mary eventually regains her composure and addresses her son, asking how she can bear to see him naked and crucified without crying. She speaks of the anguish that her son's suffering has caused her, but also acknowledges that his life will be a testament to his mother's love for him, even after his death.
The song ends with a plea to the Virgin Mary and to the Holy Spirit to share in the pain that Jesus endured, and to use their grace to help those who want to live a life of service for God.
Overall, Fairuz's song Kamat Mariyam is a poignant tribute to the sorrowful experience of Mary as she watches her son suffer on the cross, and it acknowledges the strength and endurance of a mother's love.
