Recording artiste Fairuz Hussein is a familiar name in the Malaysian music … Read Full Bio ↴Recording artiste Fairuz Hussein is a familiar name in the Malaysian music industry.Even though she is an R&B artist but Jazz lovers nation wide including veteren Jazz singers such as Julie Sudiro and Zain Azman has accepted her as one of Malaysian's best Jazz singer.She had been invited to sing for mostly VVIPs for their exclusive functions and had done concerts for the public and has proved she is one of the most versatile artist locally and can be accepted by any walks of life.
The talent of second daughter to award winning director/actor Hussein Abu Hassan and actress Mahyon Ismail was discovered by well known composer and producer Adnan Abu Hassan and later was offered to sign a recording contract with international label Sony(CBS) in 1988.Went on to do her first solo album in the same year.
The first few tracks that was done was so promising that Sony decided to released it as the FIRST MALAYSIAN CD titled KALI PERTAMA (which had the privilige to collaborate with Indonesian producers ELFA SECIORA and HARRY SABAR.The album was released there in the same year by TEAM RECORDS)and was invited by Indonesian producer Harry Sabar to sing and shoot the videoclip for the theme song of a movie titled CATATAN SIBOY 2 which was a boxoffice hit in Indonesia followed by her second album titled FAIRUZ HUSSEIN in 1989 which Fairuz had the privilige to work with names such as James F.Sundah,Embong S , Zul Nadzar and Johan Nawawi just to name a few.
During that time she was invited by another teen idol,musician/producer from Indonesia FARIZ RM to record an English number which became a hit titled BARCELONA for his album.Fairuz became quite popular among the producers in Indonesia for her singing style that she was invited once more by TEAM RECORDS to contribute her voice for a song which carried an environmental theme,among the big names in Indonesia such as HARVEY MALAIHOLO,EMILIA CONTESSA,RUTH SAHANAYA just to name a few.
Making quite a number of friends there she was invited once more by producer ELFA SECIORA to do a beautiful duet ballad with HARVEY MALAIHOLO in an album for a teenage band that called themselves INDONESIA ENAM.
During those times Fairuz had hosted and appeared in a number of tv shows and concerts and not to mentioned appearances and performances for dinner shows beauty pageants etc. all over Malaysia,Indonesia,Brunei and Singapore.Fairuz was selected and invited by Tokyo Broadcasting to perform at the ASIAN FESTIVAL OF SONGS in Tokyo.
Her third album for Sony titled PILIHAN TERBAIK FAIRUZ HUSSEIN in 1990 was also the last album she did under the Sony label.
Went on to venture into something new along with partner and husband ZULKIFLI MOHD NADZAR they started a production company cum publishing house called GHETTO MUSIC PRODUCTION in 1990 to concentrate on studiowork (mainly for local albums).She also tried her hand in acting in a musical play titled UDA DAN DARA(in english) in 1994 and local tv dramas (RTM and ASTRO).
Along with her husband Zul,they decided to go back into the club scenes in 1999.She was invited to performed for the opening night of the FLORA JAZZ FESTIVAL which was held at THE EMPORIUM GRAND CAFE in July.Performed for the millennium countdown at the MANDARIN ORIENTAL.
Fairuz released yet another compilation album under the Sony label in october 2001 which included a duet ballad titled CURIGA with another local recording artiste NING BAIZURA.The same month Fairuz and Zul were invited for an ASTRO tv show titled JAZ featuring local and foreign jazz and experimental musicians and singers.
Performed at the PACIFICA GRILL once more for the 2002 new year countdownDuring that time CURIGA was nominated for best arrangement for the AIM (ANUGERAH INDUSTRI MUZIK)and Fairuz along with Ning Baizura were invited to performed the song on the live telecast of the AIM NIGHT music award in april and she was also invited to do a few other tv shows for RTM.Through may till august Fairuz and Zul performed with an eight piece band in a jazz club called QOOL.In September they were invited to performed for four nights at the ARTISTE SPACE in CONCORDE Shah Alam for the FESTIVAL OF ARTS and were also doing corporate dinner shows and yet another newyear countdown for the MANDARIN ORIENTAL.
In September 2003,under their own label GHETTO MUSIC PRODUCTION ,Fairuz and Zul(who produced the singles) released her 2 singles which has been playing on local radio networks .
Was invited to guest on NTV7 for ANUAR AND FRIENDS hosted by ANUAR ZAIN along with locals own Ferhad,Dayang Nurfaezah,Flop Poppy, performed for the press conference of the MUZIK MUZIK 2003 along with Dayang Nurfaezah and Adibah Noor,guested for HIBURAN MINGGU INI along with guest group from Indonesia MOLUCCAS hosted by Syafinas,guest artiste for the MISS ERAMAN INTERNATIONAL BEAUTY PAGEANT which was held at the KLIA Pan Pacific on the 20th 0f december.
Another countdown for the Mandarin Oriental s Pacifica Bar and Grill for the Newyear eve of 2004 which makes it six newyear countdowns for the Mandarin Oriental in a row. June 2004 performed at the birthday function of the DYMM Sultan of Kelantan.July 2004 Farewell dinner organized by the CEO of TMNET for the CE of Telekom and showcase at the KL Tower inconjuction with the anniversary of KL Tower along with Sutera.August 2004 performed at theMalayMail Big Walk with OAG,VE,Siti Sarah,Sutera and many others.
