A good distraction
Is what I got to.
I've got this corner window
I've got five days of winter this routine whitewall
It takes all this all this time, time and color, time, time and color.
To get protection against killing of days
And it's you and you and you and you and you,
You take all this all this time this time.
it's alright stay in tonight.
I've got this corner window
I've got five days of winter this routine whitewall
It takes all this all this time this time.
You take all this all this time, this time, this time, this time,
Time, time, and color time, time and color.
The lyrics of Fairweather's song Alaska convey a sense of monotony and boredom in life, and how we all need distractions to break free from our routines. The opening line "Pay for country trails, a good distraction" suggests that the singer may be spending money on outdoor activities or hobbies to escape the mundaneness of their daily life. The second line "Is what I got to" further emphasizes the need for a distraction.
The next few lines paint a picture of the singer's immediate surroundings. They're sitting by a window, looking out at the snow-covered landscape of Alaska. The line "I've got five days of winter this routine whitewall" suggests that the singer is stuck in a cycle of routine, with nothing exciting to look forward to. The repetition of "time and color" emphasizes the dullness of their existence.
The next few lines mention paying bills in exchange for "protection against killing of days" which could refer to the idea of having a job to protect oneself financially, but also feeling trapped and unfulfilled by the same job. The repetition of "you" at the end of the line suggests the lack of control the singer feels over their own life. The chorus -- "It's alright to stay in tonight" -- further emphasizes the idea of being stuck in a rut.
Overall, the lyrics of Alaska convey a feeling of boredom, monotony, and a longing for something more in life.
