Faith Assembly has produced a number of albums and several singles, their most famous within the underground synthpop scene probably being Shades of Blue and Red Ambition. Faith Assembly's songs often feature on A Different Drum compilations and taster CDs.
Style
Using the classic 80's synthpop sound in the early albums such as Shades of Blue and The Diary of Winter, Stacy makes use of guitars, retro synths, samples from old films and female vocals to produce a sound not unlike 80s groups ABC, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark and Simple Minds.
Denial
Faith Assembly Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Almost anything
To make them cry
And she tried
To take away the fire
Denial
And you'll do
To break them down
Then she whispers
I'll never give in
What is there to gain
You only hurt yourself
Breaking promises
That's where you begin
And you'll do
Almost anything
To break their smiles
To see the light
Drain from their eyes
Denial
You live in denial
You live in denial
We live... in denial
Do what you must do
Say what you must say
Do anything
To break them down
Denial
I hate all your love
I hate your kind of love
The song Denial by Faith Assembly is a portrayal of a person who has a tendency to manipulate others for their personal gain. The lyrics suggest that this person is capable of saying and doing anything to bring others down and extinguish their fire. In the second verse, the person whispers that they will never give in, but the message that follows is one of warning which suggests that breaking promises will only result in hurting yourself. The chorus highlights the repeated use of denial as a defense mechanism, the inability to acknowledge reality, and the act of repressing one's emotions. The lines "Do what you must do, Say what you must say" in the bridge assert that the person is willing to go to great lengths to break people down.
The final line, "I hate all your love, I hate your kind of love" reinforces the idea that the person is resentful and may not be capable of experiencing or recognizing love. The song's overall message suggests that unhealthy behavior patterns can be difficult to break, and can ultimately result in harm to oneself and others. The use of repetition in the lyrics and the haunting cadence of the melody emphasize the song's somber and ominous tone.

Faith Assembly are awesome! First song I heard from them was "Redemption" on the "Rise!" compilation that A Different Drum released. I wish they were much more prolific, but I guess the 4-5 years between albums is worth it for such perfection. I'd so love to see them live!
