Standing ovations or boo-boo-boos
Wa-wa-watch us until we blur
Walk off into the sunset
Tell Rock'n'Roll I'm alone again
I wanna put the midwest home again
Your time has passed
They say never means never
But never means forever
Never means forever
Alphadog and oh, oh OMEGAlomaniac
Eh, eh, eh-eh, eh, eh
Alphadog and oh oh OMEGA-MEGA-lo
Welcome to the new deja vu
I can almost see the wizard through the curtains
Alphadog and oh, oh OMEGAlomaniac
We must have the best coach
Tell the best jokes
We must make it hard to
Look so easy doing something so hard
Like you must see my way
They scream when they look at me
I'm a, I'm a star
I'm a, I'm a star
I'm a star, oh, I'm a star
Alphadog and oh, oh OMEGAlomaniac
Eh, eh, eh-eh, eh, eh
Alphadog and oh, oh OMEGAlomaniac
Welcome to the new deja vu
I can almost see the wizard through the curtains
Alphadog and oh, OMEGAlomaniac
You're not the first
Or the last but you're possibly the prettiest
Whoa
He's a fighter past his prime
He's in the gutter waving his hand
I'm just fine
You're not the first
Or the last but you're possibly the prettiest
Whoa
He's a fighter past his prime
He's in the gutter waving his hand
Alphadog and oh, oh OMEGAlomaniac
Eh, eh, eh-eh, eh, eh
Alphadog and oh, oh OMEGA-MEGA-lo
Welcome to the new deja vu
I can almost see the wizard through the curtains
Alphadog and oh, oh OMEGAlomaniac
(Whoaa, ohh, whoaa)
(Whoaa, ohh, whoaa)
The lyrics of "Alpha Dog" by Fall Out Boy focus on the pursuit of fame and success in the music industry, highlighting the pressures and expectations that come with it. The song opens with a demand to "Clap until your hands hurt", which can be interpreted as a request for validation and approval from the audience. This is followed by a reference to the fleeting nature of fame, with the line "the fast dance won't last". However, the chorus repeats the phrase "Alphadog and OMEGAlomaniac", emphasizing the desire to be on top and dominate the industry. The verses describe the need to be the best and make everything appear effortless, all while dealing with the constant scrutiny and judgement from others.
The song also mentions the idea of deja vu and hints at the Wizard of Oz, adding an element of surrealism and confusion to the overall message. The line "Your time has passed" suggests that the singer may feel like they are past their prime or struggling to keep up, but continues to strive for success and recognition.
Interestingly, the title of the song "Alpha Dog" was inspired by a book of the same name by Jennifer Hopfensperger, which tells the story of a young woman's experiences working in the music industry. The band felt that the title captured the competitive and cutthroat nature of the industry that they were trying to convey in the lyrics.

I'd do anything to fucking be a teen during this era of Fall Out Boy. Attending their shows, doing crazy shit, meeting them, meeting new friends... this video gives me nostalgia for something I've never known. Such a golden time for them!! And their songs make me feel like no other music has before. Fall Out Boy is one of a kind.

It was wild. Except for the rows of porta-potties. Those were gross. I think Warped Tour flu should have it's own designation. That was vile.

I'm so proud of them. Like in all seriousness, they started from just four guys playing instruments and then became this amazing band whom have helped people through so much and given us this amazing music. Even at 30+ years old they're still going at it. And Joe, Pete, and Patrick are fathers! They've been together for almost 15 years and they're still so passionate about what they do. They've come such a long way and I hope that even in 2020 they're still going strong. Thank you Andy, Joe, Pete, and Patrick for all that you've done, not only for me, but for all of your fans.
