Following the word-of-mouth acclaim of last September’s Self-Titled debut album, their latest EP ‘Brainless’ offers up dreamy soaring male/female harmonies blended with slabs of American-noise-rock, with singles from the record already racking up plays on Radio X and BBC 6 Music. Not bad, considering Jen, Chris and Josh have self-produced and recorded all of their music DIY in garages and living rooms.
The band have spent their first 12 months impressing crowds across the UK with their loud, instrument-swapping show. With performances winning praise from Total Guitar, who marked them as ‘Guitarists to watch in 2016’, and prompting Bob Mould (Hüsker Dü) recently to hand-pick them as his support band.

In my,
Memory.
A missing link,
I thought could be seen.
The one I want's a sillhouette,
The one I want's a sillhouette,
Now looks, vacantly to me.
Watch ordinary,
Disintegrate
Yeah I tried to let it,
But I suffocate.
Try to forget it all
I flew kites when I was,
Growing up.
Then looked under,
But I guess, I got stuck.
Back when I was a sillhouette,
Back when I was a sillhouette.
Searching for some exposure
Without treading on your feet (feet).
Try to forget, forget it all.
You're weak, but get it right.
Forget, forget it all.
Don't speak till you get it right.
Try to, forget it all,
You're weak but you get it right. Alright.
The one you love's a sillhouette,
The one you love's a sillhouette.
A bullet straight through the head
But what if, it was meant.
For me, me.
The lyrics to False Advertising's song "Sigh" have a certain pensive, reflective quality to them. The first lines, "There's a breach in my memory. A missing link, I thought could be seen," suggest a sense of confusion and disorientation. The singer seems to be struggling to make sense of something that they once thought was clear. This is reinforced by the repeated use of the phrase "the one I want's a silhouette," which suggests a lack of clarity or specificity in their desires or goals.
As the song progresses, the singer reflects on the ways in which life can be destabilizing and unpredictable, as "ordinary disintegrates" and they "suffocate" in their attempt to come to terms with the changes around them. As they look back on their childhood, they remember the simple joys of flying kites, but also the sense of being "stuck" in some way - perhaps not sure of how to move forward or find a clear path in life.
Overall, "Sigh" seems to be about the difficulty of navigating a changing world and finding one's place in it. The repeated refrain of "Try to forget it all / You're weak but you get it right" suggests a struggle to let go of the past and move forward in a constructive way, even in the face of uncertainty and confusion.
