War
False Witness Lyrics

Scatter the masses
Incite war between classes
To distract them from this new genocide
Money, power, and politics
The driving force behind
A new age of heretics
Cover your eyes
As the helpless die
Feeding more lies
That blanket your blackened soul
War, war, politicians play
Their plan is to make millions while thousands more are slain
War, war, propaganda made
There is no use for peace if a profit can be gained
We all bow down to conglomerates
Forced to our knees, big business is moving up
Slowly but surely enveloping the world
Tearing through our innocence
As their flag of filth unfurls
War, war, politicians play
Their plan is to make millions while thousands more are slain
War, war, propaganda made
There is no use for peace if a profit can be gained
Your blood runs blacker than the oil that you kill for
Committing genocide to fill your pockets with more
You are the reason there will never be peace
America's holocaust in the Middle East
This means war
War, war, politicians play
Their plan is to make millions while thousands more are slain
War, war, propaganda made
There is no use for peace if a profit can be gained
This means war
The lyrics of False Witness's song "War" speak to the destructive power dynamics fueled by money, power, politics, and greed. The song starts by calling for war, not a physical battle, but a metaphorical one aimed at dividing the masses and distracting them from real issues like genocide. The lyrics suggest that those in positions of authority use war and conflict to maintain control and manipulate the public's attention away from atrocities happening around them.
The imagery of covering one's eyes as the helpless die emphasizes the theme of deceit and manipulation by those in power. The reference to lies blanketing one's soul highlights the moral corruption that occurs when people turn a blind eye to injustices in pursuit of their own self-interests. The lyrics emphasize the devastating consequences of politicians using war and propaganda for personal gain, with a disregard for the lives lost in the process.
The mention of conglomerates and big businesses rising to power symbolizes the influence of corporate greed and the erosion of societal values. The image of innocence being torn apart as a flag of filth unfurls represents the moral decay that occurs when profit becomes the primary motivator in decision-making. The lyrics paint a bleak picture of a world where greed and power overshadow compassion and humanity, leading to a cycle of violence and destruction.
The final verses confront the harsh reality of bloodshed and exploitation for economic gain, particularly in the context of America's involvement in conflicts in the Middle East. The lyrics accuse those responsible of committing genocide and perpetuating violence in pursuit of financial interests. The repeated assertion that "This means war" serves as a powerful and urgent call to action against the systemic injustices and corruption perpetuated by those in positions of power. Overall, the song's message is a scathing critique of the destructive consequences of war driven by greed and manipulation.
