1971's Fania All Stars Live At The Cheetah volumes one and two became the biggest selling Latin albums ever produced by one group from one concert, Produced by Larry Harlow.
Among the many salsa musicians that performed with the group were Conga players, Mongo Santamaria and Ray Barretto and presently Mr Marcha, Eddie Montalvo, Singers Ruben Blades, Cheo Feliciano, Hector Lavoe, Celia Cruz, Pete "El Conde" Rodriguez, Trombonist Willie Colon, Pianists Larry Harlow, Papo Lucca, Eddie Palmieri, The Timbale King Tito Puente, Timbalero Nicky Marrero and bassist Bobby Valentin among others.
As a group, Fania All-Stars outlived Fania Records, which is now owned by EMusic.

The lyrics to Fania All Stars’ song Juan Pachanga tell the story of a man named Juan Pachanga who appears well-dressed and perfumed at five in the morning, while everyone else in the neighborhood is still sleeping. Juan Pachanga, however, is plagued by the pain of a past love who betrayed him. Despite his seemingly carefree lifestyle of partying, drinking, and dancing, he carries the weight of his past love’s deception with him. As the sun rises, Juan Pachanga thinks about his false love and the pain it has caused him. He is greeted warmly by those he meets along the way, but only he knows the sorrow he carries.
The chorus of the song urges Juan Pachanga to forget his past love and move on, as the love he once had is dying. The song is a commentary on the tale of the playboy who loves to party, but who is actually deeply wounded by a past love. The refrain “Olvídala” (forget her) speaks to the idea that sometimes the only way to heal from a broken heart is to let go of the past and move on.

Desde mi punto de vista Juan Pachanga es la mejor salsa de todos los tiempos, no tiene que ser la opinion de los demas. Solo hay que oir la versión de estudio de este tema, sobretodo los últimos 4 minutos. El arreglo original es de Loui Ramirez que junto a la interpretación de Ruben y el piano de Papo Lucas hacen de este tema un monumento a la música latina, una joya, una verdadera obra de arte.

Estoy totalmente de acuerdo contigo hermano latino, Rubén Blades tiene tantas canciones bravas pero esta en otro nivel, para mi la mejor de Blades . Como dijo el gran Cheo Feliciano .. sera por que todos llevamos un Juan Pachanga dentro e’ nosotros?

No estoy de acuerdo, hay mucha salsa mejor que este tema, no digo que no sea todo lo que tú dices, pero considero que hay demasiadas obras de arte en la salsa, para decir que este se los lleva a todos.

estoy de acuerdo contigo mi hermano, esta cancion Juan Pachanga grabada en estudio en una pieza maestra de la musica latina, los arreglos fenomenales y el acompañamiento musical excelente. esa cancion figura en el LP. Perfect Blend de FAS. Lo tengo en mi colección. Saludos.

Esa canción (JUAN PACHANGA) la estrenaron en el Poliedro de Caracas en Octubre de 1977. El maestro Johnny Pacheco (+) dijo que la estaban estrenando antes de la salida del disco. Yo estaba allí. YO LO VIVÍ .
