After playing hometown dates at local festivals in 2016, Faouzia’s burgeoning career started to blossom. She has since taken the stage at Toronto’s Yonge & Dundas Square for Canada’s Walk Of Fame Festival, and played one high profile event after another, wowing audiences with her heart-wrenching lyrics and magnetic stage presence.
Switching seamlessly between composing songs in English and French, Faouzia follows her well-tuned instinct when songwriting. Her first single “Knock On My Door” found its way onto regular rotation at Canadian radio, and the follow up “My Heart’s Grave” is already seeing adds in both Canada, and her native Morocco. Another accolade that the teen can add to her already impressive résumé is that of an award-winner. In early 2017, Faouzia became the first Canadian in history to win the Grand Prize award for the International Songwriting Competition, besting over 16,000 entries from137 countries, and a few short months later, was awarded the Grand Prize for the Unsigned Only Music Competition (6,000 entries from 90 countries). Faouzia was the first ever teen to win each award.
Influenced by hours spent listening to traditional Arabic music in her parents’ minivan, the songbird’s voice embodies a unique range, taking on subtle trills and stylings that combine effortlessly with contemporary pop hooks or Francophone lyrics.
You won’t be able to miss this up-and-coming artistic force – Faouzia’s star just keeps shining brighter.

Before I go and let you in
Don't wanna be irrational
And make the same mistakes again
Would you be there
5 AM on a weekend?
Through the thick and the thin
Don't wanna wake up
Wishing I never gave love
Wishing I never gave trust
Knowing it wasn't true
If I was your hero, would you be mine?
I know this ain't a fairytale, this is real life
But if I were to save you, would you do the same?
And catch me if I'm fallin', fallin', fallin', fallin'?
If I was your hero, would you be mine?
I know this ain't a fairytale, this is real life
But if I were to save you, would you do the same?
And catch me if I'm fallin', fallin', fallin', fallin'?
Maybe I'm better off alone
At least that's what my mind is saying
I think I've been through way too much
So you gotta assure
That this love is sure
Would you be there
5 AM on a weekend?
Through the thick and the thin
Never second-guessing with you
Don't wanna wake up
Wishing I never gave love
Wishing I never gave trust
Knowing it wasn't true
If I was your hero, would you be mine?
I know this ain't a fairytale, this is real life
But if I were to save you, would you do the same?
And catch me if I'm fallin', fallin', fallin', fallin'?
If I was your hero, would you be mine?
I know this ain't a fairytale, this is real life
But if I were to save you, would you do the same?
And catch me if I'm fallin', fallin', fallin', fallin'?
You got my heart on its knees
And it's begging you please don't go
Oh-oh-oh
And I'll be fine if you leave
But I'm hoping this time you won't
Oh-oh-oh
If I was your hero, would you be mine?
I know this ain't a fairytale, this is real life
But if I were to save you, would you do the same?
And catch me if I'm fallin', fallin', fallin', fallin'?
If I was your hero, would you be mine?
I know this ain't a fairytale, this is real life
But if I were to save you, would you do the same?
And catch me if I'm fallin', fallin', fallin', fallin'?
The lyrics to FAOUZIA's song Hero address the concerns and fears of entering a new relationship. The singer is hesitant to let someone into their life and heart again after previously making mistakes and being hurt. The singer is looking for reassurance from their potential partner that they will be there for them through thick and thin and will not make the same mistakes as in past relationships. The singer asks if the person would be there at 5 AM on a weekend, which could be interpreted as a symbol for the difficult moments in a relationship where support is needed the most.
The title of the song refers to the idea of being a hero to someone, which could mean different things depending on the situation. It could relate to saving someone from danger or simply being a support and constant presence in their life. The singer asks if they were the hero, would their partner be there for them in the same way? The repetition of "fallin'" in the chorus creates an image of vulnerability and the need for someone to catch them when they are at their lowest.
Overall, the lyrics to Hero convey the struggle of balancing the fear of getting hurt again with the desire for a meaningful relationship with someone who will be there for them. It is a relatable and emotional message that many listeners can connect with.
