Finding their inspiration from the diverse city blocks and night club scene of Southern California, FM has built a strong internet fan base and a new lifestyle brand for the next generation of youth around the world. “The Far East Movement is the name for our music, lifestyle, and our party. For the diverse music fan that hits up 3 clubs in 1 night, tuned to the racing scene and fashion, and back on the computer religiously checking blogs and sites for anything related to that.”- FM
FM has embarked on 2 World Tours (including the USA, South America, Canada, Europe and Asia) and recently featured on the 35 city Party Rock Tour with LMFAO, signed distribution deals in Japan and Korea (Avex Network and JF Productions respectively), garnered multiple features on MTV World, and also featured music on worldwide media such as FOX’s “So You Think You Can Dance”, MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew”, ABC Family’s Lincoln Heights, CBS Primetime shows “CSI: Miami” and “CSI: NY”, multiple placements on HBO’s “Entourage”, “Fast & Furious Tokyo Drift” and “Finishing the Game” (a featured film at Sundance 2007). FM was also the first Asian act to perform at the Sundance Film Festival’s prestigious Music Café Gala hosted by ASCAP, and was also recently a featured act at the Cannes Film Festival in France. As producers, FM worked with Jin the Emcee to create ABC JIN, an award-winning, platinum album that broke records for first week sales in Hong Kong.
In the world of marketing, the Far*East Movement has been sought out by major companies to endorse their products. They worked with McDonalds as celebrity judges and were featured artists for the national Big Mac Chant campaign and spokespersons/tour headliners for McDonald’s Lost Ring campaign during the 2008 Olympics. FM was also a featured artist for Verizon Wireless’s LG Dare ‘Touch One’ Campaign. They’ve also co-created a series of live concerts with Wong Fu Productions to benefit community outreach called the International Secret Agents with endorsements by JCPenney and Verizon.
Far East Movement’s single “Girls On The Dance Floor” has taken over clubs and radio stations around the world, reaching #1 on Los Angeles radio and charting on the Billboard Charts. On February 12th, 2010, the Far East Movement officially signed their first major label record deal with Cherrytree / Interscope Records. After 2 independent album releases and a rigorous tour schedule, the Far East Movement is in the studio working with the Stereotypes (Production team) on their 3rd album and first major release in 2010.
The original members of Far East Movement, Kevin Nishimura (Kev Nish), James Roh (Prohgress), and Jae Choung (J-Splif), grew up in Koreatown, Los Angeles, California. They were close companions in high school and shared a passion for music together. The trio promoted their music online and began performing at local clubs and events in Los Angeles; soon, they began their musical career with the name "Emcee's Anonymous" by 2001. However, they later changed it to Far East Movement or FM, originating from a song that they produced with the same name. In 2003, they organized together an event called "Movementality" in Koreatown, LA, featuring ten different performances with all the proceeds sent to a local youth drug rehabilitation center. On September 21, 2016, S.M Entertainment, one of the largest entertainment companies in South Korea, announced that Chanyeol, from popular K-pop band EXO, would be collaborating with Far East Movement in their track "Freal Luv", which also features Tinashe and Marshmello.[26]
On October 10, 2016, Starship Entertainment announced that Hyolyn, from K-pop girl-group Sistar, would be featured in a new song titled "Umbrella".

It features various Korean artists, such as Tiffany from Girls' Generation, rappers Yoon Mi-rae, Jay Park, Loco and R&B group Urban Zakapa, along with American singer-songwriter Macy Gray, rapper Soulja Boy and credits from British singer-producer MNEK. Identity debuted at #1 on the global iTunes dance charts.[citation needed] The music video for "Freal Luv" was viewed over 30 million times on YouTube.

Do What I Want
Far East Movement Lyrics

Say I don't care
I throw my hands in the air
I do it my way
I got no fear
Say I do what I want
Yeah I do what I want
You know I do what I want
Because I do, what I do, what I do what I want
Yeah I do, what I do, what I do what I want
Man I do, what I do, what I do what I want
Yeah I do, what I do, what I do what I want
Wild out stylin', I came to get down
And ya can't believe that FM on your dial
Hatin' on my crown 'cause the kicks stand out
When I kick the raw sound, then I make ya walk it out
Yeah critics try to test the best
I'm flippin' nose at shows 'cause i dress the best
FM on my chest, I rep the west
I'm world-wide, haters on house arrest
So when they tell ya how to do yo thang
You tell em step off 'cause the kicks so clean
I got no shame, I'm proud like a champion
I'm at the top of my game
Because I do, what I do, what I do what I want
Yeah I do, what I do, what I do what I want
Man I do, what I do, what I do what I want
Yeah I do, what I do, what I do what I want
Yo, why you on my grill?
Homie fall back, just tryna chill with my Pontiac
Pick up a girl, maybe pick two
Im'ma big deal and I'm from a sick crew
It's the 18, we get the job done
It's 24/7 always on the run
Reppin' LA, that's where I'm from
Aim for the top, coming straight from the slums
Sick of the hate that's pointed to my dome
Quiet all the yappin', you fake Jenny Jones
How can you doubt me, I got to much passion
Reppin' FM till they drop in my casket
Try and tell me this and try and tell me that
But I know, I know, I know, I know, I know
It goes in one eat and right out the other
'cause I won't, I won't, I won't, I won't, I won't
Yeah yeah yeah
Say I don't care
I throw my hands in the air
I do it my way
I got no fear
Say I do what I want
Yeah I do what I want
You know I do what I want
I do what I want
Workin' 9 to 9, I'm just tryna sing it live
Is it really any different that I'm wokin' on my rhymes
'cause my swagger to sick, all my flows too cool
Or the fact that I wear my shades in the early afternoon
Really buggin you? Sorry I didn't know about the rules
But I'm pretty sure that mama didn't raise no fool
You can say watchu will, but it ain't no use
Im'ma still low ride, throwin' up the double u
I got my vans on they cost a billion
I do what I want and there ain't no stealin'
Flow so cold 'cause ya boy is chillin'
Haters can't fight the feelin'
Because I do, what I do, what I do what I want
Yeah I do, what I do, what I do what I want
Man I do, what I do, what I do what I want
Yeah I do, what I do, what I do what I want
Yeah yeah yeah
Say I don't care
I throw my hands in the air
I do it my way
I got no fear
Say I do what I want
Yeah I do what I want
You know I do what I want
I do what I want
The lyrics to Far East Movement's song "Do What I Want" express a sense of empowerment and self-confidence in one's own abilities and decisions. The chorus repeats the phrase "I do what I want" multiple times, emphasizing the idea that the singer is unapologetically living life on their own terms. The verses touch on various aspects of the singer's life, such as their unique style, success in their music career, and rejection of societal expectations. The overall message is that the singer refuses to conform and instead charts their own path, regardless of what others may say.
The first verse begins with the singer declaring that they "throw [their] hands in the air" and do things their own way, without fear or concern for others' opinions. They then assert their right to make their own choices, repeating the chorus phrase "I do what I want". The second verse addresses critics who try to challenge the singer's abilities, but the singer remains confident in their talent and style. They end the verse by insisting that they are "at the top of [their] game". In the bridge, the singer confronts those who try to dictate their behavior, stating that their words have no effect on them. The final verse emphasizes the singer's rebellious spirit, declaring that they will continue to do what they want, even if it goes against societal norms.
Overall, "Do What I Want" is a song about personal autonomy and self-expression, with a strong message encouraging listeners to be true to themselves and not conform to societal expectations.
